Hakeem Jeffries' Response to Question on MSNBC Is Perfect Symbol of Dem Disarray

Democrats seem to be in complete disarray over the vote in the Senate on the stopgap spending CR that was passed in the House.

There were reports on Thursday of screaming and division in the Senate lunch discussing the issue. Then Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said he would vote for it, probably knowing he had too many defections from senators who didn't want a shutdown. So at this point, it looks like it's likely to go through in the Senate.

That caused an explosion from the House Democrats, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries issuing a statement and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez throwing a fit. Some House Democrats were even floating what sounded like a transparent threat to me to primary Schumer if he didn't change his mind and run AOC against him.

The Republicans are just enjoying them eating each other alive. Either choice makes them look bad and they are owning that they want a shutdown.

MSNBC had Jeffries on "Morning Joe" on Thursday morning to question him and get the scoop on where the fight was at, at that point, and his response to one question just said it all. Mike Barnicle asked about the effect of the CR on veterans. I'm not sure what Barnicle was trying to claim here. But Jeffries just sat there looking clueless, as our sister site Twitchy reported.

Barnicle says, "Hello?" But Jeffries doesn't respond. Total silence.

Then the MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski interjected to try to save him and says maybe they lost the feed, "Looks like we've lost Hakeem Jeffries." You can say that again. He is lost. "I would have loved to have heard that answer," she said. So would we.

But the clueless look on his face is the perfect representation of exactly where the Democrats are at now. They're mad at each other. However, the bottom line is the Republicans have them coming and going on this issue, either way, the Republicans are in a better position, and Democrats would eventually have to cave. Schumer in voting for the CR is just dealing with the reality more now than the House Democrats are.  Meanwhile, if you check out the leftist base on X, they don't seem to be happy with either one of the leaders.

I'm not sure how they did themselves out of this, but so far all they're doing is digging the hole deeper. So keep it up, guys, and continue to take up time to figuratively pummel each other, so the Trump team can go about saving America.
