Hilarious: Bowman Sends out 'Messaging' Points for Dems to Defend Him, but Even Those Have a Problem

It's been quite a saga with Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) in the wake of him pulling the fire alarm in the Cannon building as Democrats were trying to delay a vote.

Bowman is still trying to spin his actions from Saturday. He admitted it but attributed it to "confusion." Then he issued a formal statement that went over like a lead balloon. Then on Monday, he spoke to reporters, saying he didn't know what all the fuss was about, he was just trying to get to a vote.

But no one is buying any of it because none of it explains why he pulled the fire alarm. So now he's ratcheting up the effort. He sent out talking points to other Democrats on how to defend him since it's hard to figure out how to justify such an action, even for Democrats who are used to justifying the unjustifiable.

This is pretty hilarious, but also he's asking Democrats to provide him cover for a potential crime. Again not a good look.

Bowman's office sent out this guidance to House Dem offices, looking for social media backup on fire alarm situation.

Here are the "Suggested Talking Points" that he provided for his colleagues to use on his behalf.

It is an extreme reach on the part of MAGA Republicans to assert that Rep Bowman intended to harm or destruct anyone or thing. The exact opposite is true: he was trying to do his job.
Look, if you've been in the Capitol complex on a weekend you'd know there's only one or two ways to get in and out and it causes confusion for staffers and members alike, but because of last minute votes caused by Republican incompetence and surprise bill drop the not all exits were staffed like usual and the signage made it even more confusing.
Especially when you're in a rush after Republicans drop the bill text 15 minutes before the vote and the signage on the doors is unnecessarily confusing.
"Itʼs clear my colleague Congressman Bowman was simply rushing to the floor to cast his vote to prevent a shutdown and support working class families."
"House Republicans are obviously trying to distract from the fact they cannot govern and that they nearly shut down the federal government for no reason."
"I believe Congressman Bowman when he says this was an accident. Republicans need to instead focus their energy on the Nazi members of their party before anything else."
"There are multiple insurrectionist supporters in Congress and more who supported a coup and support Trumpʼs Big Lie. Thatʼs what they should be focused on. Instead their focus on Rep. Bowman is an attempt to minimize January 6th."

Now that's a ton of spin that still doesn't equate to any rationale for pulling the fire alarm. It's also evidence of someone who has no shame that he wants people to try to sell this idiocy. And if I were asked to say any of that, I'd be too embarrassed to put out such nonsense. So we'll have to see who does. We already know that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tried it on CNN with Jake Tapper on Sunday, and it failed—badly.

But what was extra funny about all this effort by Bowman was that after the messaging went out, he had to issue an update saying that someone had included "inappropriate use of the term Nazi" in the guidance "without my consent." He couldn't even get his messaging right without having to scramble and backtrack.

So his staff is just sending out random things? Or once the backlash came in, he threw them under the bus?

At this point, one has to think, what can he do next? Isn't there anyone telling him to stop talking already?

He just keeps digging that hole deeper and making things worse for himself.
