Rep. Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) has tried to play the pure one — the one who is only siding with the Democrats because she was concerned about the Constitution, the one who wants to bring the Republicans back, and away from President Donald Trump. She stated outright the most important thing was to make sure he wasn’t able to run again.
Now, that’s just so much nonsense. If you were siding with the Constitution, you would know to fight the Democrats at all costs because they are doing all they can to suborn the Constitution and move the country further left.
But if that wasn’t already clear it was nonsense, she made it very clear with what she did on Saturday. Instead of being with local Wyoming Republicans, she chose her priority, by skipping out on a major GOP event/fundraiser.
“Ms. Cheney hasn’t appeared at a state Republican Party function in more than two years and hasn’t been to an in-person event for any of the party’s 23 county chapters since 2020,” the [New York] Times published.
While Republicans held a major prom-themed fundraiser in southwest Wyoming Saturday, the “biggest night of the year” for the area’s Republicans, Cheney was in the state capital of Cheyenne at an annual gathering for the Wyoming Press Association.
So, she showed her priority was mouthing off to the media. This wasn’t just one event; she hasn’t been interested in being at Republican events in two years. Tell me exactly how she’s talking with, or trying to influence or explain herself to any other Republicans?
What this says is that she’s not interested in being a Republican, nor is she interested in anything they might have to say to her. Not exactly an admirable attribute for someone who wants to be a representative. She’s straight-up insulted the Republicans in her state, and then she expects support?
“I’m not going to convince the crazies and I reject the crazies,” Cheney told the Times Saturday while she gathered with reporters instead of grassroots supporters 230 miles away. “I reject the notion that somehow we don’t have to abide by the rule of law. And the people right now who are in the leadership of our state party, I’m not trying to get their support because they’ve abandoned the Constitution.”
So, the Republicans in her state are all crazies and don’t agree with the rule of law? And she wonders why the Republicans in her state have had enough of her? Not only in her state — the national Republicans have had enough of her, too — that’s why they voted to censure her and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (RINO-IL).
Meanwhile, her Trump-endorsed challenger – Harriet Hageman – beat her in a GOP straw poll of who should win the seat Cheney currently holds. She didn’t just win; she crushed Cheney. By a lot — 59 votes in the poll conducted by the Wyoming Republican State Central Committee; Cheney got just six votes. Talk about a big sign that Cheney is in trouble in the state. On top of that, Hageman is outstripping Cheney in in-state donations, and has met with voters in all 23 counties in the state, according to her team. Cheney is raising more money but it’s coming from out of state — from Never Trump, big money donors like Sen. Mitt Romney (RINO-UT) and big money members of the RINO brigade.
Raising money is important, but having local support is far more important. Cheney has shown she doesn’t even care about that. And the voters are going to let her know that they don’t care about her, as they boot her to the curb.
