Australian Woman Undergoes Trans-Species Surgery and the Results Are Cat-Astrophic

Some years ago, when the whole transgender surgery issue first became a widely-known thing, I remember wondering where this all would end - was there a big red line marked "Stupid" that no patient or healthcare provider would cross? Well, apparently we haven't reached that big red line yet.

Mind you, I've always said consenting, competent adults can do as they like, if they can find a plastic surgeon willing to take the task on. But at some points, wouldn't medical ethics kick in? Primum non nocere is still a thing, right? But boy, there have been some weird attempts. The latest such case comes to us from Australia, where a young woman - they say - went under the knife to look more like a cat - or more like an anime catgirl, I'm not sure which.

This woman’s quest for viral purrfection has been pawsitively agonizing.

Jolene Dawson, a wildly aspirational trendsetter on TikTok, spent approximately $8,000 (AUD $12,000) to make herself look as much like a cat as a human can, turning to “experimental” procedures to flare her nostrils and accentuate her cheekbones much like that of a feline.

But when the 29-year-old from Gold Coast, Australia, looks back on the cat-astrophe meow, she regrets it, she told Jam Press, citing the painful side effects.

Props to the New York Post for the puns. But my question, in this as in the various "top" and "bottom" surgeries always described in transgender procedures, is why any reputable plastic surgeon would take this on. But there, if you see, this is a case where the answer is in the question: "...any reputable plastic surgeon."

There are always hacks who will do anything a disturbed patient wants.

Over the course of her transformation, Dawson claimed that her body began to “reject” the filler as it migrated throughout her face, where it was not intended. Meanwhile, a new procedure involving barbed threading was so painful that she attempted to remove the filaments herself, leaving lesions and scars on her cheeks.

“This was always intended to be a publicity stunt, and I stuck with reversible options because I knew I wouldn’t want to look like a cat forever,” Dawson said on What’s The Jam.

Miss Dawson claims she wasn't going for a "transspecies" procedure, all kidding aside; she is probably a long step ahead of most of the "transgender surgery" types in admitting she didn't think it through, and was in fact attention-seeking.

And I would point out that in cases like these, no such treatment is ever really reversible. Miss Dawson seems to be learning this the hard way.

Transgender surgeries, of course, are leaps and bounds worse. Even the most "successful" such surgeries leave the patients scarred and irretrievably, often painfully altered, sterile, unable to enjoy any semblance of sexual relations. Miss Dawson should consider herself, not lucky, but less unfortunate.

Although, to be perfectly candid, I have a sneaking suspicion, based on several of the included photos, that Jolene was originally "Joe." That Adam's apple, for one thing, makes "Jolene" look like s/he had swallowed a ping-pong ball; s/he has awfully big hands, and the one standing photo has... another suspicious feature, a ways south of that prominent Adam's apple. Let's just say that if my suspicions are correct, then Jolene Dawson has not undergone "bottom surgery."

Miss Dawson later says:

“I’m well aware of how dumb this was,” she further lamented. I have been in a lot of pain because of it.”

“I just want to advise against ever getting experimental procedures, and any procedure for the wrong reason.”

A little late, but good advice nevertheless. Whether the surgery is transgender or transspecies, there should be counseling, more counseling, and still more counseling before one scalpel touches flesh. This misguided young woman was, for some reason, seeking attention, and in that case, s/he (I can't confirm either way) may well be much more perfectly aligned with the transgender crowd than s/he admits.

And I'd be fe-lyin' if I said otherwise.
