How many times have we seen Twitter pull the trigger against someone on the right now?
But they’re not at all biased, right?
They just went after another one. This time, it’s Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press secretary, Christina Pushaw.
As we reported earlier, the AP did a flawed hit piece on DeSantis (how many of those have we seen at this point?), falsely suggesting a pay for play scheme on the part of DeSantis for promoting a Regeneron COVID-19 antibody treatment. His press secretary and other outlets debunked the claims. But the AP then claimed that because Pushaw defended DeSantis, somehow she was activating an online mob against their reporter.
The @AssociatedPress is writing @GovRonDeSantis today re: his press secretary, @ChristinaPushaw, and her "direct effort to activate an online mob to attack" a @FLPressCorps reporter. "We call on you to eliminate this attack strategy from your press office," the AP's exec VP asks. pic.twitter.com/ghyK7Lwy2K

Pushaw pointed out how their bad reporting could actually work to prevent people from getting helpful treatment.
The only words that threatened public health and safety were the words in the AP hit piece, specifically the headline. https://t.co/mWMi8oCOcy

“No one from our office ever threatened him,” Pushaw told Fox News. “His story drew harsh criticism because it was false – and discouraged people from seeking life-saving treatment. Instead of owning up to that and retracting their hit piece, AP doubled down and tried to make the story about the backlash the reporter received.” [….]
“They got caught publishing misinformation that could endanger the lives of Floridians by making them unduly trust a life-saving treatment … over a governor they’ve decided they don’t like,” she said. “They got called out for it in part because of me, in part because the story was so obviously wrong … They brought this on themselves by publishing this kind of dangerous misinformation.”
She added she deleted the tweet that said “Drag Them” over the AP’s tweet of its original story after Farrington told her he had begun receiving threats. She added she wasn’t trying to cover her tracks by deleting her old tweets, and she didn’t condone any threats against the reporter and urged him to alert the police.
“Drag them” isn’t a threat, it’s a call to criticize. Reporters don’t get to be free from criticism, despite whatever they might think.
But then suddenly, after that dust up with the AP, her account was locked by Twitter for 12 hours. She wasn’t even told why.
.@ChristinaPushaw says she has had her Twitter account limited / suspended for 12 hours — she was sent a notice she violated terms of use but wasn’t told which. This comes after @AP wrote a letter complaining about her. Meanwhile, the Taliban livetweeted its conquest of Kabul. pic.twitter.com/cOi2U6eyf3

This was her last tweet.
Just so you all know, the @AP is embarrassed that they got caught pushing potentially deadly misinformation narratives that were conclusively debunked, so they’re trying to deflect and make the story into “Republicans Pounce.” Don’t fall for it: https://t.co/MN4j7Ogszt

“You will ban the press secretary of a democratically elected official while allowing the Taliban to live-tweet their conquest of Afghanistan?” Pushaw reacted in a statement to Fox News. “This proves Governor DeSantis right – again. Those who challenge false narratives are often too silenced by corporate media and Big Tech collusion.”
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed Pushaw’s suspension. When asked by Fox News which tweets violated Twitter policy, the spokesperson replied, “We’ve nothing to share beyond the statement, thank you.”
Twitter has no problem with the Taliban being on their platform, but they’re suspending folks like Pushaw for no explainable reason seemingly because she debunked the AP’s story. It’s not clear what the suspension was for since she deleted the tweet which wasn’t a threat to begin with. If the suspension is because of the “drag them” tweet, that would seem incredibly overreactive. There are far worse things all the time from the left that Twitter ignores. If they can’t even explain why they did it, it doesn’t sound like they have a lot of justification for their actions.
