Al Franken may have left the Senate, but the rest of the Democrats are now seeking to push by any means necessary his extremist agenda of fondling the Internet.
Ed Markey (D-Mass.) took up Franken’s position, circulating a petition to repeal the FCC’s Restoring Internet Freedom Order. Instead, they want to have a state-run Internet through a burdensome 80 year old regulatory scheme. We all know how well phone service works under that regulation. “We’re the phone company. We don’t care. We don’t have to.” And they want the Internet to work that way.
Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) has become the 30th Senator to sign the petition, and therefore the Senate will be required to vote on it under the Congressional Review Act procedure. When that vote happens is not yet decided, but the vote is now guaranteed.
Of course, for the CRA bill to pass, it must also pass the House and the President. But with Donald “Government’s gonna pay for it” Trump, you never know.
