When cognitively vacant President Joe Biden was ousted from the 2024 presidential campaign in July in what amounted to a palace coup, the salient question was asked by many: If Biden is incapable of running for reelection, how is he capable of running America?
The question has been mostly rhetorical, given that Biden wasn't capable of running the country in July, and he's even less capable now. But there appears to be more at play, here, and none of it is good. It's neither good for the Democrat Party nor good for America.
In a word — make that a question — Is Joe Biden too selfish to lead, or at least pretend to lead?
According to a Monday report by Politico, Biden is upset and angry about being forced from the presidential ticket, and he seems some to believe he “doesn’t owe much more to a party that unceremoniously pushed him aside.”
If so, fine. But the guy was elected to serve as president until January 20, 2025 — not to "owe" anything to the Democrat Party, but to "owe" what little leadership capability he has left to America.
If the 82-year-old president is incapable of — or unwilling to — serve the remainder of his term to the best of his ability, he should immediately resign the presidency and hand the reins to Vice President Kamala Harris (God forbid.)
Either way, America loses — until President-elect Donald Trump moves into the White House.
Biden has spent week after week mostly out of public review, and even when in public, he refuses to answer questions from the media. First Lady Jill Biden attended the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Saturday, while her husband remained out of sight.
While the disastrous Biden-Harris administration has wrought four years of hardship on millions of hardworking Americans, the fact remains: If Biden is playing Pouty McPoutyFace, he needs to resign. Spoiler: There's no chance in hell he'll do so.
Moreover, the question of "Who's running America?" has been asked by multiple media outlets for months. For example:
"Spiked" asked the question in September.
Who is running America right now? If Joe Biden isn’t fit enough to run for re-election, then how can he be fit to remain in the White House?
Jewish News Syndicate asked in July: "Who's running the country?"
In 2020, it was the “turn” of Joe Biden, a man whose only political credential was that he had stuck around long enough to stick to things.
Austria's The Mises Institute mused in July: "Biden Is Not Running the Government. So, Who Is?"
The list goes on, and two things are abundantly clear:
Joe Biden is not fulfilling the terms of his presidency, and he doesn't care about whoever doesn't like it.

Here's more (emphasis, mine):
Some Biden aides acknowledge the president’s absence from the broader discussions about how to address Trump’s coming presidency and the future of the party. They say that reticence is rooted in two factors: Biden’s own recognition that few are eager to hear from him, and his own lingering personal belief that he doesn’t owe much more to a party that unceremoniously pushed him aside. Some aides have also said Biden believes he has to take a more measured approach in how he talks about Trump given his focus on facilitating a peaceful transfer of power.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates defended Biden, saying the president “is making every day of this term count” and is “leading by example for the sake of American democracy, honoring his campaign promise to respect the will of the voters and provide an orderly transition.”
That last paragraph is nonsense. Anyone who says he or she doesn't see what Biden is doing is either lying or blind.
Bates also said that Biden, in a rare exchange with reporters in November, “criticized President-elect Trump’s agenda – including across-the-board tariffs that will force American families to pay higher prices for everyday necessities.”
Seriously?
Bates admitted what we've known about the man for more than four years: he thinks "leading" is blasting Trump. And nice try on the "tariffs" thing, Mr. Bates, but continually referring to Trump as a fascist, calling his supporters "garbage," and even calling the incoming president a threat to democracy is far from "leading."
The Bottom Line
Joe Biden is a bitter old man. He was a virtual back-bencher for most of his more than 50 years in Washington. He intentionally created an illegal alien border crisis that continues to put the safety of untold numbers of American citizens at risk. Again, the list goes on.
Yet, Biden has the unmitigated gall to now be selfish? Shame on him — and shame on the Democrats and left-wing media lapdogs who've lied about his incompetency, likely since at least as far back as 2017.
