Pollster Frank Luntz is in a tough spot, these days.
Hardly a fan of former President Donald Trump, Luntz was all but forced on Friday to predict that Trump will win the 2024 presidential election. Bummer, Frank.
Luntz was asked: “If you had to bet $150,000 on who's gonna win in November, who would you bet on?”
To his credit, Luntz bit the bullet and answered — but oh, the grimace and body language:
I never dreamed that I would say this, but I would bet on Trump. I never, I thought it was done. I thought it was over. You don't come back from an impeachment. You don't come back from January 6th, you don't come back from any of this.
Uh-huh. But Luntz was forced to admit that Trump has come back.
Then again, in some circles, Trump never went away. Toss in Joe Biden — with the worst approval ratings, at this point in his presidency, in U.S. presidential history — and frankly (no pun intended), I would've been surprised if Trump hadn't "come back." Said Luntz:
But he has come back. The guy's a survivor and his opponent is having so much trouble that I would at this point, give the edge to Trump.
It was obvious that Luntz was genuinely disturbed by his own prediction.

The disbelief. The puzzlement. The anguish.
While Luntz was beside himself, he appeared incapable of understanding the current dissatisfaction in middle America, and a growing majority of voters in general who utterly disdain what Joe Biden has intentionally done to this country; from his intentional border crisis to the Afghanistan debacle to Bidenomics — which led to Bidenflation — to the never-ending flow of taxpayer money to Ukraine, and now, the strikes on the Houthi terrorists in Yemen, and the threat of a widening, Mideast war.
Yep, Joe did that. And more.
Luntz and the Democrats Have Every Reason to Panic
As I reported previously, even MSNBC on New Year's Eve rained all over Biden's reelection chances. Steve Kornacki, MSNBC's national political correspondent, meticulously explained how NBC’s final Biden presidency tracking poll of 2023 compares with those of other presidents heading into this reelection year. Spoiler: Biden's numbers sucked at record levels.
“That’s the lowest,” said Kornacki, referring to Biden’s record-low approval rating. “That’s the lowest in an NBC poll for an incumbent facing a reelection here.”
The commentary continued:
Joe Biden seems poised to be the Democratic nominee. What kind of year is he had politically? Well, again, he started 2023 coming off those good midterms for Democrats and his approval rating of 46/50 wasn’t that bad, but he’s taken a hit this year.
And as we start to close out the year, our final NBC poll had him at just 40% approval, 57% disapproval. How does this compare to past presidents entering the reelection year? Here? You can see it. Here’s the 40 that we have Biden at right now. These are all the final polls heading into the election year, a reelection year that NBC conducted.
You just see all the reasons President Trump got beat in 2020. He was at 44 heading into his reelection year. Bush Sr. got beat in 92. He was at 52 and heading south rapidly there.
But you see how that number compares. That’s the lowest. That’s the lowest in an NBC poll for an incumbent facing a reelection here.

The 2024 presidential election will be more about the spectacular failures of Joe Biden — which it should be — than about bogeyman, Donald Trump.
The Bottom Line
I've closely followed presidential elections for more years than I'll admit, here — but I will say this: regardless of the eventual outcome of the 2024 presidential election, the next 10 months will be like nothing we've ever seen.
Count on it.
