If you watched Donald Trump’s “town hall” (debate) on NBC last night, you saw a woman in a red mask sitting diagonally behind his left shoulder who nodded in agreement with his answers as he sparred with the hopelessly-biased-ankle-biter “moderator,” Savannah Guthrie.

The “nodding mystery lady” quickly went viral on social media.

One Twitter user compared the “shining light in this town hall” to “left-leaning troll Savannah Guthrie.” Wait — left-leaning?

Former Navy SEAL and SiriusXM host Jonathan T Gilliam tweeted:

“I don’t know who the woman with the red mask is behind @realDonaldTrump but I’m becoming a huge fan of her agreement head shakes when the president answers questions.”

Robby Starbuck figured “the lady nodding her head” must have been driving Democrats — assuming any watched — insane.

Kirstie Alley wanted to know who “the woman with the red mask” was.

And on it went. Wait —  that looks like her smiling at Trump.

Turns out, the “nodding mystery lady” had not only met Trump before the hatchet job by Guthrie “town hall” began; she even posted video of a short discussion with him on her Facebook page.

“We have your back! You are the best! I’m from the Dominican Republic, but I’m American. I’m an American,” she tells Trump.

“Sammy Sosa? A friend of mine,” Trump replies.

“Sammy Sosa — he endorsed me. Mr. President, I was running for Congress and he endorsed me!” Joli shouts back.

It also turns out, as tweeted by Bo Snerdley of Rush Limbaugh Show fame, not only did Joli indeed run for Congress; she’s an “ex-beauty queen who ran for Congress.”

Joli is an immigration attorney in Miami and a self-declared “Trump activist.” Here’s more background, via the Miami Herald.

The former five-time beauty queen garnered 2.5 percent of the vote in her 2018 run as an independent for Florida’s 27th Congressional District — losing to Democrat Donna Shalala, the Herald reported.

She credited Trump for serving as her inspiration.

“I am not looking to run because I need a paycheck, like Donald Trump,” she told the Herald. “I’m not looking to run because I need fame, like Donald Trump. I’m running because I need this country to succeed. Like Donald Trump, I don’t drink.”

Joli is from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republican and resides in Coral Gables, according to her Facebook page. She is a partner at the Joli Law Firm located in Miami.

She also appears as a pundit on Spanish-language television, according to the Herald.

The bottom line.

As the old adage goes, politics makes strange bedfellows.

I’m not sure if this is a good example or not. But a woman of color who’s not only an immigration attorney in Miami but also a self-declared Trump activist comes darn close.

Even better, red-mask-wearing Mayra Joli sitting behind Trump, nodding in approval over everything he said, with the troll, Savannah Guthrie looking right at her was the highlight of the bushwhacking.
