California Governor Gavin Newsom said he does not know enough about Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon’s performance to determine whether he should be recalled or not.
FOX 11 Los Angeles’ Elex Michaelson asked Newsom whether he thinks Gascon is doing a good job? Newsom responded:
“I don’t know enough about the job he’s done. I’m deeply concerned about the criticism.”
I ask @GavinNewsom if he thinks @GeorgeGascon is doing a good job?
"I don't know enough about the job he's done…I'm deeply concerned about the criticism."
"I'll leave the more objective analysis of his job to locals."

Newsom added:
“We have expressed ourselves very publicly along those lines, including in Los Angeles as it relates to some of the issues happening with retail theft, some of the issues with what’s happening on the railroad yards, and I’ve expressed my own issues privately as well, and I’ll leave the more objective analysis of his job to the locals.”
When co-host Marla Tellez asked Michaelson whether he believed Newsom’s claim about Gascon, Michaelson said it’s hard to believe that he does not know the job that Gascon has done.
It’s important to note that in 2009, then-Mayor Newsom appointed Gascon as the chief of police for the San Francisco Police Department. In 2011, when now-VP Kamala Harris was elected California Attorney General, Newsom appointed Gascon to be the San Francisco District Attorney. In 2020, Newsom endorsed Gascon for Los Angeles County DA, so it’s a little difficult to believe that Newsom does not know how Gascon has performed as Los Angeles DA.
It seems like Newsom knows more about what’s going on in red states than his own state. His state continues to decline as he spends time attacking Ron DeSantis constantly. Instead of having DeSantis live rent-free in Newsom’s head, voters and the local media should call him out; otherwise, he will continue to ignore California’s problems while making big, bold promises and delivering the bare minimum.
It seems obvious that Newsom is gearing up for a 2024 White House bid. He and the other Democratic challengers, such as Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, have turned their focus to DeSantis as they fear him more than any other GOP candidate, rightfully so.
But if true, and Newsom does not know how Gascon is performing and does not how the largest county in his state and in the country are feeling about their DA, then it’s time he focuses on his state instead of Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and other red states.
Newsom had this to say about Ron DeSantis during his interview with Elex Michaelson:
“Stop being a bully. Stop belittling people who look differently, act differently love different. Who the hell are you? Stop!”
Exclusive: @GavinNewsom told me he's never met @RonDeSantisFL.
I asked him what he would say to him if he did?
"Stop being a bully. Stop belittling people who look differently, act differently love different. Who the hell are you? Stop!"

Why would the Governor of the most populated state, running the fifth largest economy in the world, be concerned about another Governor and the way he’s running his state? Maybe because the way DeSantis is governing in Florida is popular, and it’s working. That could be the main reason why Florida has seen an increase in population since 2020, while California saw its first-ever exodus.
Maybe Newsom should focus on his own job instead of somebody else’s job, and worry about his own state and its residents rather than other states.
