For a moment, all eyes were on Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) when she put forth the latest articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden. This triggered mixed reactions from Republicans, with some urging patience so that lawmakers can go through the appropriate process before launching an impeachment attempt.
This move highlights the reality that at least some Republicans want to approach Biden as aggressively as Democrats opposed former President Donald Trump.
Several House Republicans, including Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), disagreed with the move, urging his party members to oppose the impeachment resolution and expressing his belief that it was not the right course of action at this moment:
Eager to impeach President Joe Biden, hard-right House Republicans forced a vote Thursday that sent the matter to congressional committees in a clear demonstration of the challenge that Speaker Kevin McCarthy faces in controlling the majority party.
The ability of a single lawmaker in the 435-member House to drive an impeachment resolution this week caught Republicans off guard, and many of them viewed it as a distraction from other priorities.
The measure charges Biden with “high crimes and misdemeanors” over his handling of the U.S. border with Mexico.
Rep. Lauren Boebert, backed by allies, was able to use House rules to force a snap vote on such a grave constitutional matter. The 219-208 party-line vote sent her resolution to committees for possible consideration, like any other bill. They are under no obligation to do anything.
Boebert went on Steve Bannon’s show to push the argument for impeachment, although it is expected that the articles will not pass due to a lack of GOP support. Concerns have been raised that the vote will divert attention from the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into an alleged bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and his son, Hunter. These concerns seem to have merit given the information that has been coming out about the Bidens.

Boebert’s filing of the impeachment articles also seems to have led to another confrontation between herself and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who has filed multiple articles of impeachment against Biden, even while Democrats were still in office. Perhaps Greene felt Boebert was trying to steal her job as the rep who files impeachment articles to get attention. But I digress.
For the time being, Boebert’s and Greene’s impeachment articles are being sidelined, but not for good. The House voted to refer their privileged resolutions to the Homeland Security and Judiciary committees.
So, is this going to happen or not?
Some, like myself, would argue that it’s time for McCarthy and the gang to sh*t or get off the pot. However, as much as I like to rail against Republicans for their steamy love affair with losing, the House Speaker might have a point. Right now, we are in the midst of discovering more and more about the Biden bribery scandal, along with a host of other details concerning those in the federal government who worked to protect the family. It seems that every week, another bombshell drops, further showing the Biden family’s depravity. We could be on the cusp of even more revelations showing further the level of corruption and rot in the federal government, which is every bit as important as addressing President Joe Biden.
So far, it seems that impeachment will happen, but not today.
However, there is also the chance that McCarthy is only stalling because he and his ilk lack the testicular fortitude to go through with an impeachment against Biden. We’ve seen these squishy Republican types misplace their spines when it’s time to get tough on far too many occasions, haven’t we? If Republicans decline to impeach the president, even if more evidence proving he accepted bribes as vice president emerges, then it will be yet another major reason why the party does not deserve your vote or support. I suppose we shall see what happens in the not-too-distant future.
