She just can’t help herself, can she? Noted epidemiologist and actress Alyssa Milano is complaining about masks again. But this time, she combined her mask hysteria with yet another anti-gun appeal. As usual, her argument reveals why most famous leftists should not weigh in on firearms.
As you might already know, Milano hates guns with a passion and has become a vocal advocate for limiting gun ownership for everyone except herself and her comrades. In April, she was gracious enough to urge Americans to protect themselves by refraining from buying firearms amid the COVID-19 outbreak even though last year, she admitted that she owns two guns.
On Monday, the actress and pandemic expert posted a tweet saying that people who oppose government mask mandates are the same as folks who “think they need an AR-15 for “protection.”
She tweeted: “Anti-maskers are the same people who think they need an AR-15 for ‘protection’. LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK: A MASK WILL PROTECT YOU *MORE* THAN AN AR-15 WILL.”

There is no doubt that fellow far-leftists celebrate Milano’s words of wisdom. But they would fall flat to those who survived the mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs. The person who stopped the shooter from claiming more victims used an AR-15 to wound him before police took care of the rest.
Breitbart News brought up several other instances:
For example, on March 28, 2017, Breitbart News reported that a Broken Arrow, Oklahoma homeowner’s son used an AR-15 to defend his life against three home intruders. The 23-year-old son was asleep when intruders entered the house and awoke to the noises they made. He retrieved an AR-15 and shot at the suspects as they walked in the hall, stopping the invasion and saving his life.
On July 11, 2019, Ocala.com reported that a homeowner used an AR-15 to defend himself against four home intruders, at least some of which were armed and at least one of whom was wearing a “Jason” mask. Although outnumbered, the homeowner foiled the invasion by shooting and killing two of the four invaders and causing the other two to flee.
On November 4, 2019, NBC News reported that a pregnant Florida woman used an AR-15 to fend off two home intruders. She grabbed the AR-15 after two invaders entered her home and began pistol whipping her husband. Both invaders fled after she opened fire, and one of the suspects collapsed in a nearby ditch and died.
Milano is right that an AR-15 cannot protect someone from COVID-19. To her, and other radical leftists, that argument is brilliant. But people with modicum of common sense know that not a single person has argued the opposite. Indeed, it would be like arguing that when facing a bad guy with a gun, a mask won’t save you.
But for people who might face an assailant, an AR-15 or other type of firearm is more likely to keep them safe than following the advice of people like Milano, who aren’t much concerned about victims of violence and would prefer to ensure that only the evil among us, along with the progressive elite, are able to arm themselves.
