For a weekend open thread, I give you more evidence of the sad state of both media reporting and education in America. Doubtless, most RedState Contributors and readers would love to see [mc_name name=’Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’B000589′ ] resign the Speakership, but among his many mistakes, causing Deflategate is not one of them.
To test how aware college students are of current events, the folks over at the Centennial Institute went to the University of Colorado to ask its students if he should resign “because of his role in Deflategate” for one of their promotional videos for a conservative conference. Obviously, the Speaker had nothing to do with the Patriots’ footballs not being inflated properly, but the students at Colorado were clearly ignorant of just who Boehner is. I’d guess they responded the way they did because they didn’t want it to seem like they were taking an unpopular position. Before we get too depressed, though, one of the guys they interviewed knew that the Speaker had nothing to do with the sports scandal, so we can take hope from that.
And for the record, Boulder is inarguably the most Liberal area in Colorado outside of Denver. Colleges tend to do that. Also, this isn’t just some local community college taking C students. This is one of the top public universities in America, being considered among the “Public Ivies“.
At any rate, this is your open thread for the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Feel free to discuss what’s on you mind, whether it’s related to this or any other topic, including your plans for the long weekend.
