Sean "Diddy" Combs reportedly had an emotional meltdown during the holiday season while incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in New York. After months of failed bail attempts, the rapper's frustration boiled over as he faced the harsh reality of spending the holidays behind bars.
The breakdown, which occurred the day after Christmas, was reportedly triggered by Combs' disbelief at still being locked up months after his September arrest on federal charges related to a sex trafficking scheme. Recently, the music mogul voluntarily withdrew his bail appeal after being denied release three times, ensuring he would remain incarcerated at least until his upcoming May trial.
Combs, who had hoped for a "high-powered" legal defense to secure his release, was reportedly left devastated after spending the holidays without the luxury and comforts he’s accustomed to.
A source close to Combs told The Daily Mail:
"With his high powered legal team Diddy thought he’d be out on bail by now."
Reports suggest Combs requested to be taken to a hospital during the breakdown but was denied by prison guards. To cope with his emotional distress, the rapper eventually turned to meditation to calm himself down.
The source stated:
"Spending the holidays behind bars was a nightmare for him. He eventually managed to calm himself down with the meditation technique he’s been using while he’s been behind bars. It took him a few hours of deep breathing and focusing to get out of the bad space he was in, but he finally managed it."
Although cameras weren’t allowed in the federal court, Law and Crime reporter Elizabeth Millner pointed out that Combs looked very different from a video taken just days before his arrest on September 16, where he was seen playing hacky sack in Central Park.
At a hearing earlier this month, Millner described Combs' appearance in court as "astonishingly thinner" and "grayer" after spending the past three months in jail.
Millner said after the hearing:
He appeared just astonishingly thinner, which you can expect [from him being] inside a federal detention center for a couple of months now.

New Lawsuits Accuse Sean 'Diddy' Combs of Drugging, Sexually Assaulting 3 Men
Adding to Combs' growing legal troubles, a federal judge in New York ruled on Thursday that a woman identified as "Jane Doe" can proceed anonymously in her lawsuit against Combs and Jay-Z. The Alabama resident, claims she was raped by both Shawn Carter, known as Jay-Z, and Combs at the age of 13.
Defense attorneys for the two men deny the allegations.
Combs' lawyers have dismissed recent civil lawsuits, calling them:
"Shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs."
In response, Carter accused the plaintiff's attorney, Tony Buzbee, of attempting to blackmail him into settling the Alabama woman's allegations.
In her written order, U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres ruled that the woman could remain anonymous during the initial stages of the case. However, she may be required to reveal her identity if the lawsuit progresses to trial, to allow defense attorneys to gather necessary facts for preparation. Torres also emphasized the "substantial interest" the public has in the case.
Combs will return to federal court on March 17.
