Late Wednesday night, a man suspected of committing a triple homicide in Mahomet, Illinois, was fatally shot by Berwyn police.
The incident began around 9:40 p.m. when three people were killed in the 1100 block of Riverside Drive. Two died at local hospitals, and one was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old John Lyons from Westchester, fled to Berwyn, where he was reported carrying a gun around 11:40 p.m. on Home Avenue. After initially evading police, Lyons broke into a home on Wenonah Avenue, killing two dogs before further confrontation.
Lyons then engaged with police in a yard, ignoring commands and firing at officers, who responded with lethal force, killing him. No officers were injured.
Far-right influencer Nicholas "Nick" Fuentes claimed on X that Lyons targeted his residence. Fuentes shared footage from his Ring doorbell camera showing Lyons armed with a pistol, crossbow, and incendiary devices, attempting to enter his home while he was livestreaming.
Fuentes posted on social media:
Last night an armed killer made an attempt on my life at my home, which was recently doxed on this platform. The gunman carried a pistol, crossbow, and incendiary devices. I believe he intended to kill me. He is now dead. I am okay!
According to police, the would-be assassin committed a triple homicide in southern Illinois early yesterday before he arrived at my doorstep with his pistol drawn, calling my name. I am grateful to God that I am still alive today.
Tragically, the gunman broke into a neighbor's home to evade police & killed two of their dogs. While heartbreaking, it could have been so unimaginably worse. God have mercy. Doxing is not a game. This nihilistic lynch mob behavior must end before anyone else is killed.

I am grateful to God that I am still alive today.
Fuentes himself was unharmed during the incident, but says he plans to relocate, writing:
I will now have to uproot my life and relocate. While I can handle whatever comes to my front door, it is irresponsible to expect my neighbors with young families to share that burden.
In the meantime I will have to contract 24 hour security to protect myself and my property.
Fuentes posted video surveillance footage of the scary incident:
The killer parked his car in front of my house and approached my door with his pistol drawn and what appears to be a crossbow. I was livestreaming at the time.

He rings the door bell, tries the doorknob and yells “yo Nick!” pic.twitter.com/5y1LF3Dv56
Holy crap. This guy killed 3 family members then went to Nick Fuentes front door, yelling “Yo Nick” before cops took him down. He was live streaming. pic.twitter.com/zKRAzg3oyy

Fuentes detailed the tragic incident shortly after his first hearing for a battery charge on Thursday, which stems from a separate confrontation outside of his home last month. A controversial podcaster, Fuentes has repeatedly been targeted at his home after his address was leaked online.
