Every time I check back into the developing Democratic National Committee civil war, I'm greeted with more and more entertaining updates. This last one makes me want to swear off the cinema and take my popcorn to the DNC, because this is getting juicy.
When last we left off, DNC vice-Chair David Hogg was being a bit naughty. He was busy pushing $20 million through his "Leaders We Deserve" project, which aims at challenging — not Republicans — but Democrats who didn't lean to the left enough. The idea is that the reason the Democrat Party lost in 2024 and continues to lose now is because they weren't radically left enough.
Now, how you come to this conclusion after the people literally pushed the country to the right with the majority of the vote, I don't know. Try as I might, I can't put myself into the shoes of a radical leftist's mind as I'm pretty sure you either have to be supremely brainwashed, making a ton of money, or just plain stupid. They saw everyone move right and concluded that people would come back if they moved left.
Your guess as to why is as good as mine.

Anyway, Hogg posing a threat to the politicians in his own party has a big chunk of said party a little on edge and not too pleased. For one, Hogg isn't supposed to be picking sides as vice-Chair of the DNC, but I'm pretty sure he thought it was a-okay because that's exactly what the DNC did against Bernie Sanders in order to empower Hillary Clinton.
Regardless, the chair of the DNC, Ken Martin, effectively gave Hogg the ultimatum of "cut it out or resign from your post":
"I have great respect for David Hogg. I think he's an amazing young leader who's done so much already to help move our movement forward," Martin said.
But the DNC chair added that while he understands what Hogg is trying to do, "I've said to him, if you want to challenge incumbents, you're more than free to do that, but just not as an officer of the DNC, because our job is to be neutral arbiters. We can't be both the referee and also the player at the same time."
"It's important for us to maintain the trust that we have built with Democratic voters and to keep our thumb off the scale as party officers," Martin added.

But Hogg doesn't think he did anything wrong. In fact, he believes he's doing his job to the letter. However, with this trouble now brewing, the wolves within the DNC are starting to circle Hogg, and he may very well be in trouble.
According to Semafor.com, a Native American woman is now challenging Hogg's position, and in the most leftist way possible. Her name is Kalyn Free, a member of the Choctaw Nation, and she's filing a challenge against Hogg over the violation of a DNC charter and discrimination against women of color:
In her complaint, shared with Semafor by a Democratic source, Free argued that she lost a “fatally flawed election that violated the DNC Charter and discriminated against three women of color candidates,” and asks for “two new vice chair elections.” In February, after several rounds of voting, the race came down to five candidates – Kenyatta, Hogg, Free, and two other women. Kenyatta and Hogg claimed the open spots.
“By aggregating votes across ballots and failing to distinguish between gender categories in a meaningful way, the DNC’s process violated its own Charter and Bylaws, undermining both fairness and gender diversity,” argued Free, a citizen of the Choctaw Nation.
To translate this into basic English from leftese, Free is saying that Hogg won because he's white and male, and that's not fair.
Hogg's attorneys have responded already, saying that the entire election was done by the book, but that's not the interesting part. The hilarious thing here is that Hogg is having to fend off a challenge from a woman of color who is effectively advocating against free and fair elections in order to implement DEI standards for DNC leadership while he himself attempts to use the DNC as a way to force Democrat politicians out in favor of the ones he actually likes, which are radically left youngsters who believe in things like DEI.
There isn't enough popcorn in the world.
To be honest, I'm not sure who I want to win. If we get Free, we get a DNC that starts to effectively look like your average Democratic Socialists of America convention. You remember how that went?
If Hogg wins, he'll pull the party further to the left, effectively putting it into a death spiral of radicalism, forcing the Democrat Party into an irrelevance that it won't get away from for years.
The cool thing here is that no matter who wins, we win. Not just because the Democrat Party is going to become a national laughingstock, but because the descent is going to be one of the most entertaining things you've ever seen.
