One pattern I think is not often spoken about is how Democrats seem perfectly fine with labeling non-Americans as Americans and Americans as problematic.
As I've been saying over and over again, Democrats are going to radicalize themselves into irrelevance, and one of the ways they're doing so is by taking the 20 position on the 80/20 issue of illegal immigration. For instance, the Democrat Party's overt concern about Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gang member and alleged leader while it shows little to no concern for the family of Rachel Mornin, a mother of five who was brutally murdered after being sexually assaulted by an El Salvadorian illegal, is telling.
You can see where their heart is at, and it's not with you.
As my colleague Nick Arama wrote on Monday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) appeared on Pod Save America and dropped this little gem while discussing the ongoing deportations:
"It's a complement to something that we need to be doing right now, which is engaging in far more work of transnational democratic solidarity with the democratic governments and the democratic movements and peoples and parties of the world to try to prevent the spread of the lawlessness and the spread of the fascist chaos that's been unleashed against us."
[...]
"Implicit in that should be if and when we come back to power -- and we will -- we are not going to look kindly upon people who...facilitated authoritarianism in our country because that's an assault on our Constitution and on our people."
Jamie Raskin: "When we come back to power — and we will — are not going to look kindly upon people who facilitated authoritarianism in our country."

Yes, that totally sounds like a non-authoritarian position. pic.twitter.com/u7Ez26rnyV

What's being highlighted here is that Raskin is making threats of political retribution against deporting illegal immigrants once Democrats are back in power, effectively saying that anyone who assisted in these deportations is going to feel the full brunt of the left's wrath.
Not a great plan, seeing as how deportations out of America was something Trump was voted in to do by the people, and the people approve of his ongoing efforts with a majority of 53 percent. Raskin is effectively promising to punish the people, but that's not actually surprising. Like many Democrats, Raskin doesn't seem to think his people are Americans, and so their opinions don't matter. Americans are causing him and his colleagues severe headaches and endless problems.
Raskin doesn't seem to view Americans — to view you — as his people, and all you have to do is hear what he said beneath the implicit threat of political punishment.
He said, "an assault on our Constitution and on our people."
Moreover, he seems to want to associate with foreign governments more than our own, and promising consequences for Americans who enforce existing immigration law. If you work for ICE, law enforcement, or if you voted for Trump expecting border enforcement—you’re the enemy and will be dealt with.
Van Hollen and Raskin seem to think that "our people," isn't you, an American. The only people being deported are illegal immigrants, especially dangerous ones, so when Raskin says things like "our people," one should stop and ask why he's referring to those people as a possession of "us." Who is "us?" It's certainly not the American people or the U.S. government, at least not in terms of this administration.
But Democrats have been claiming ownership of illegals and considering them their people for years. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, for instance, referred to illegal immigrants as "her constituency" all the way back in 2017.
“The constituency is there for our country,” said Pelosi during a press conference. “It’s success will lead to other success.”
If you pay attention, you'll notice Democrats say this kind of thing a lot. They talk about people in terms of possession of them or being a flat-out enemy. They speak in terms like "our community," or "our children," or "our democracy." When discussing conservatives, Republicans, Christians, or whoever is the enemy of the week, they speak in terms that are of the moral equivalent of war.
As I write this, the Democrats have increasingly made it clear that they are in opposition to the people, even to the point where violence against you is perfectly acceptable. You voted in Donald Trump, their greatest and most hated enemy, which makes you a complication that has to be dealt with. Whatever befalls you right now is your doing, and you deserve it, according to the Democrats who refuse to denounce the evil being done in the name of politics.

And why should they care? You aren't their people. They are their people. You rejected their agenda, and in rejecting their agenda, you rejected them.
They don't serve Americans, they serve an ideology that Americans divorced themselves from. Their voters aren't in this country, they're outside its borders, and Democrats want them to get in to reinforce their power.
They don't serve you, they serve themselves.
