You’d think with as much anti-Trump sentiment circulating around the mainstream and Republican infighting going on that Democratic candidates would be a shoo-in for the 2018 midterms but Nancy Pelosi just asked America to collectively hold her beer.
While answering questions at a Culver City town hall event, the House Minority Leader essentially admitted that should Democrats win the house, Democrats would do away with the tax cuts implemented by the GOP, and hike them back up.

According to the Daily Caller, Pelosi launched into an explanation about how the tax cuts currently being enjoyed by anyone with a pulse are primarily benefiting the rich. As the DC points out, this lie is so far from the truth that it would need to book an international flight to reunite with it.
“Over 80 percent of the benefits go to the top 1 percent,” Pelosi said of the GOP tax cuts. “Eighty-six million middle-class families will see a tax increase while they advertise it as a middle-class bill.”
According to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, the average household will receive a tax cut of $1,610 in 2018. Only 5 percent of taxpayers will see increased taxes in 2018.
Pelosi continued by not detailing how Democrats would repeal the tax cuts, just that they would and vote out the people responsible for the tax cuts, and repeal the law that allows Americans to keep more of the money they made:
“One of our complaints about what they did with the tax bill is they did it in the dark of night with the speed of light,” the California Democrat said.
“We’ll sit down at the table and say … what would be a tax bill that creates growth, that creates good paying jobs as it reduces the deficit?” she said.
“It’s not about chipping at this piece or that piece, it’s about a comprehensive look at what our tax policy should be for the future,” she added.
“Secondly, we would do it so it would be transparent so that people could understand the ramifications of this, that or the other,” Pelosi promised.
Pelosi’s comments Wednesday comes after she said in February that Democrats would have to “replace and repeal” the GOP tax bill once retaking the House.
“It may have to be a ‘replace and repeal’ — replace them and repeal the bill,” Pelosi said.
What’s disturbing is that Pelosi said all of this with a light disposition, as if she was talking about a plan to take America to Six Flags. While it’s disturbing, it’s not surprising. Pelosi has demonstrated time and again that she’s out of touch with most of America, and that her elitist sensibilities extend far further than her knowledge of economics.
In truth, Pelosi should have understood that her position was unpopular back when the GOP tax cuts were first passed. She had attempted to assemble a room filled with angry people who wished to protest the passage of the bill, but bailed on her own protest when she found that it was scantily attended and low energy.
Not taking the hint, however, Pelosi continued to push the idea that the tax cuts were “crumbs” for those in the lower income brackets. Meanwhile, business owners both small and gargantuan were experiencing more money going into their coffers, which resulted in everything from bonuses and employee programs, to more jobs by the tens of thousands.
This idea of rolling back the tax cuts is so unpopular that Pelosi gets called out during her town halls by people experiencing benefits from them. Pelosi — currently worth $100 million and who fought recently for $100,000 in tax breaks for herself — refuses to even talk about her own dealings with wealth and tax cuts.
The punchline is that Pelosi is of the belief that her California progressivism is widely smiled upon by the majority of America. In truth, it’s the Democrats’ Achilles heel, and she sure does love exposing it.
