New: Here's What Happened When Father of Murdered Boy Showed Up at Karmelo Anthony's Presser

The father of murdered high-school student Austin Metcalf showed up at a presser for his alleged killer, Karmelo Anthony, on Thursday, and what transpired was shocking and disgusting.

As RedState previously reported, Anthony entered Metcalf's school tent at a track meet in early April and refused to leave when asked (which will stand out as very ironic momentarily). He then dared anyone to touch him, at which point Metcalf attempted to remove him. Anthony then stabbed Metcalf with a pocket knife, killing him.

Unfortunately, certain racial grievance activists have gotten involved in this case over the last week or so, attempting to paint Anthony as the victim, and it has turned things into a circus. "Minister" Dominique Alexander, founder of the "Next Generation Action Network," illustrated that at the aforementioned press conference.

Around an hour before it was set to start, pictures of Metcalf's father, Jeff Metcalf, in attendance began to circulate. He was reportedly there just to listen.

When Alexander found out, he refused to start the press conference and then called the police on Metcalf's father. He was then escorted out of the venue, and we haven't gotten to the worst part yet.

Do you now see why I said Karmelo Anthony being asked to leave the school tent and refusing before stabbing Austin Metcalf would become very ironic? The role reversal here is astonishing, and one should be left wondering exactly what Alexander and Anthony's family are so afraid of if this was truly an act of self-defense. You've got a grieving father who shows up to quietly listen to a public press conference, and they call the police on him.

But again, that wasn't the worst part. That came after the presser started. In a disgusting display, Alexander actually accused Jeff Metcalf of being "disrespectful."

Disclaimer: The following transcript is correct. Alexander's grammar is just objectively terrible.

ALEXANDER: And all I'm going to say so it don't be asked later is that was disrespectful and just shows you all the character who was not invited, he knows that is inappropriate to be near this family, but he did it. And so, I say to people, actions speak louder than words. What he has felled into is the political operatives that want to make this thing a political thing of hate, yet bigotry, and yet racism. We have conservative operatives that have been posting non-stop about this case.

I'm just in awe of how someone could be that evil. To speak about the father of a murdered boy that way, trying to pretend like the alleged killer and his family are the victims, is jarring, to say the least. To then go on to proclaim "actions speak louder than words" when the action predating all of this is the stabbing of an innocent high-school student is grotesque. Where is the remorse? Where is the care for the loss that Metcalf's family has suffered?

At this point, you're probably wondering who Alexander is. As it turns out, he's a convicted felon who spent years in prison. He has also tried to make himself the face of the Dallas anti-police movement. In fact, it was at Alexander's anti-police protest in 2015 that a gunman opened fire, killing five police officers. That is who the Anthony family has decided to enlist as their spokesperson. To say that shows a lack of judgment is putting it lightly.

To further illustrate how insane this scene was, after accusing others of trying to make this alleged crime about "racism," he went on to bring up racism.

ALEXANDER: And that is your constitutional right. It's people out here reminding us of the black struggle in America.

I'm having trouble even finishing this article because of how disturbing this is. This case is not about the "black struggle in America." It's about Karmelo Anthony stabbing and killing Austin Metcalf after starting a confrontation. Whatever one wants to say about a self-defense claim and the right to a fair trial, they can say, but the Anthonys are not victims here. It is unbelievably perverted that this is playing out the way it is.

Lastly, I want to address those on the right who have attacked Metcalf's father for offering forgiveness following this tragedy. Yes, what has happened over the last few weeks and which crescendoed today at this horrible presser paints a picture of people who have no remorse and don't deserve forgiveness. But Jeff Metcalf is a Christian, and as a Christian, forgiveness isn't an option. Christians are called to forgive whether the other person deserves it or not. In short, please do not attack a grieving father over something like that. Not everyone is a pawn in the culture war.
