As more and more evidence piles up that the WHO has not only been incompetent but incredibly corrupt in its handling of the Wuhan virus, how the U.S. government responds is becoming a major issue.

Recently, President Trump threatened to suspend funding to the organization pending a review of their behavior. As I wrote just this morning, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has consistently shown himself to be a mouthpiece for the Chinese government. Just this week, he accused Taiwan of waging a racist campaign against him, which was then amplified by Chinese authorities.

There’s also ample evidence that Tedros owes his position to the Chinese government, which may explain his subservience to them (see New Details of How China Got WHO Director-General Elected Paint a Picture of Corruption).

He worked closely with China during his time as Ethiopia’s health minister, and China backed Tedros’s 2017 bid for WHO director-general, media outlets noted at the time.

Tedros won the election despite widely covered accusations that he covered up three different cholera epidemics as health minister in Ethiopia. Though he goes by “Dr. Tedros,” the WHO chief isn’t a medical doctor but has a PhD in public health.

Just months after taking over at the WHO, Tedros tapped former Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe, a notorious human rights violator, to be a UN Goodwill ambassador and only backed down after an international outcry.

The Director-General has rewarded his communist friends by continually covering for their lies throughout the current pandemic. Whether it was repeating their propaganda about transmission, or praising the Chinese response, Tedros has been subjugating his organization to the CCP every step of the way.

That brings me to Dr. Fauci, who has taken center stage in the U.S. response to the virus. While some may argue he shouldn’t be so visible or influential in the first place, the fact is that he is. That means his words matter and it’s time he amends this statement given the powerful position he’s holding.

“Tedros is really an outstanding person,” Fauci said during the March 25 coronavirus task force briefing. “I’ve known him from the time that he was the minister of Health of Ethiopia. “I mean, obviously, over the years, anyone who says that the WHO has not had problems has not been watching the WHO. But I think, under his leadership, they’ve done very well.”

When asked about what he believes now, Fauci obfuscated on Wednesday.

“To be honest with you, I can’t get involved in that kind of discussion,” Fauci laughed nervously. “I just need to focus on what my job is to see what we can do in this country and globally to put an end to this.”

“The interaction between the WHO is something I really prefer not to get involved with,” he added.

That’s not good enough.

He was obviously willing to get involved earlier when it came to praising the corrupt WHO Director-General. There’s no reason for him to remain silent or sidestep now. The White House, which includes Fauci — whether he wants the political responsibility or not — must have a congruent message moving forward on how to deal with the WHO. Their behavior has not only been reprehensible, it’s been dangerous and has cost thousands of lives around the world. That comment uttered by Fauci will be used against any attempt to cease funding to the organization. It has to be amended at some point.

Even still, the corruption at the WHO was readily apparent on March 25th. Why Fauci made that comment in the first place is a bit of a mystery. While most will focus on the President needing to be more careful in his language, the same applies to Fauci. We are no longer just dealing with a virus. We are dealing with a geopolitical time bomb and the WHO and China rest in the middle of it.
