A Plane Crashes in Canada and Justin Trudeau Tweets About… Hockey?

While the footage of Monday’s plane crash in Toronto, Canada is terrifying, miraculously, everyone survived. Still, after a spate of accidents—including the horrific crash between an Army Blackhawk helicopter and a commuter plane over the frigid waters of the Potomac River in Washington DC in late January, which took 67 lives—many folks are nervous about flying and the state of our aviation safety systems.

Which is all the more reason it seemed woefully out of touch for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to start tweeting about hockey shortly after the Toronto incident.

This was super important to the Canadian leader:

Now, we could give the guy a break, and allow for the fact that maybe he hadn’t heard about the crash yet. He is the leader of a country, though, and you would presume news like this would get to him pretty quickly. He did find time to honor a literary figure who had passed away, though:

Plane crash, what plane crash? I need to celebrate Indigenous Peoples before I get around to that:

Ah! Here we go. Finally, late Monday evening, Trudeau managed to retweet a post from the Minister of Transport and Internal Trade.

A retweet. Not enough time, evidently, to compose one of his own.

Not surprisingly, social media users took the out-of-touch PM to task:

One person posted: 'There was a plane crash you know.'

Another added: 'Any words on the Delta plane crash @ Pearson International today?'

One other said: 'Don't you sympathize with the Canadians who suffered a plane crash today? Fortunately there were no deaths.'

Another user commented: 'A plane crash in Toronto and c***womble Trudeau is posting about a hockey game? Are you serious?!?!?!?'

His delayed reaction to the crash won't do the PM any favors, after becoming deeply unpopular in recent years over the soaring cost of food, housing and immigration.

Pure Gold: Elon Drops the Perfect Hilarious Video to Sum Up Justin Trudeau

Trudeau’s had a rough go of it lately as his increasingly left-wing policies have proven to be so unpopular that he’s announced he’s going to resign once a new party leader is selected. That will happen sometime after March 24, 2025. How about just resign effective tout de suite (right now)? Meanwhile, Donald Trump has played him like a fiddle with his threats to impose tariffs if they don’t secure their border and play fair on trade. He’s also caused Justin to have conniptions by saying that Canada should become America’s 51st state.

This latest bad look by the outgoing PM is just one more embarrassment on a long list.
