House Dems Are Left Wiping Egg off Their Faces, Reps. Flee From Thanedar Trump Impeachment

Wow, it appears that three Democrats who signed on to Michigan Dem Representative Shri Thanedar's articles of impeachment against President Trump have now begged off, leaving the entire Democrat Party with egg on their faces.

Readers may have read about or seen Thanedar's video on Monday, announcing his ridiculous reasoning behind filing the seven articles of impeachment, calling the Trump administration's deportation of alleged illegal immigrant gang member, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, to El Salvador (Abrego Garcia's native country) "the final straw."

There was also my colleague Brad Slager's intriguing deep dive reporting on the representative's unusual background:

Dems In Disarray: Meet the Sketchy, Beagle-Abusing Politician Looking to Impeach President Trump

Now, three of the four representatives who swiftly signed on to back the impeachment, quietly requested that the House clerk remove their names, later on Tuesday, claiming that they understood (wrongly) that their party's Leadership approved it going forward, and/or the House Judiciary Committee had reviewed it and signed off on it as legal.

Reps. Kweisi Mfume (D-MD), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), and Robin Kelly (D-IL) are fleeing from the resolution Thanedar introduced, leaving only one co-sponsor, Jan Schakowsky (D-IL).

Here's the very best part, though. Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), the chair of the House Democrat Caucus, put the final nail in the coffin, admitting on Tuesday that Dems cannot impeach Trump, and have no real stomach to do so--but said it with weasel words. [emphasis added]

Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) did not go so far as to say that Trump has not committed impeachable offenses in his first 100 days back in office. But with Republicans controlling both the House and the Senate, Aguilar suggested the move is simply impractical.

“Impeachment is, at times, a tool that can be used. This president is no stranger to that; he’s been impeached twice,” Aguilar told reporters in the Capitol. “But we don’t have any confidence that House and Senate Republicans would do their jobs. And so this is not an exercise that we’re willing to undertake.”

But what is Thanedar doing in the wake of his party leadership's statement? He's doubling down:

Thanedar, however, is not deterred: In a statement to The Hill on Wednesday, he doubled down on his effort.

“I can not speak for the actions of other members. But I am doing this because Trump has blatantly violated the constitution,” Thanedar said.

Guess what? Rep. Al Green (D-TX) still has not filed his promised articles of impeachment against Trump 47.

I try not to overuse the concept of "popcorn," but the Democrats don't make it easy to steer clear of it. Deep down, they know they don't have the numbers to impeach Trump like they did in his first term, and it's one of the most satisfying things ever for them to even partially admit it publicly, like they had to do in this case. Stay tuned for more hilarity, folks.

Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
