President Trump took part in an event celebrating what the White House is calling "Liberation Day," with an executive order signing ceremony in front of assembled guests in the Rose Garden on Wednesday. He began with some brief remarks.
Katie Pavlich from our sister site, Townhall captured some of the proceedings in person. One of those moments was this image of some of the attendees, including members of the Cabinet and House Speaker Mike Johnson:

More on the workers in a minute. Pres. Trump began his remarks by calling Wednesday, Apr. 2, "Liberation Day":
.@POTUS: "My fellow Americans, this is LIBERATION DAY -- April 2, 2025 will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn, the day America's destiny was reclaimed, and the day that we began to make American wealthy again." pic.twitter.com/LKLNJPX9GK

He also announced that the new EOs signal "our [nation's] turn to prosper and, in so doing, use trillions and trillions of dollars to reduce our taxes and pay down our national debt":
.@POTUS: "This is one of the most important days... in American history; it's our Declaration of Economic Independence. For years, hard-working American citizens were forced to sit on the sidelines as other nations got rich and powerful... But now it's our time to prosper." pic.twitter.com/J7B9eM3G5D

Pres. Trump talked about how the U.S. trade deficit soared to record levels under "Sleepy Joe Biden"-and how we have fallen behind compared to China:
.@POTUS: The United States can no longer produce enough antibiotics to treat our sick. We import virtually all of our computers, phones, televisions, and electronics. A single shipyard in China now produces more ships in one year than all the American shipyards combined. Chronic… pic.twitter.com/CVR7VhBaYY
