COLUMBIA, SC – As part of RedState’s coverage of the South Carolina Primary, I’m in Columbia, South Carolina today and checking out some of the local precincts. Turnout has been steady all day, say poll workers, but there has been no crush. It’s to be expected, of course, on a Saturday schedule.

Polls are open for 12 hours so people have all day to come and go at their leisure. Even so, knowing human beings, I expected to hear low turnout in the morning, high in the evening. But as it turns out, that’s not what they’re seeing.

At one of the polling locations I stopped and spoke with Carol, who gave me the lowdown on the flow of traffic, as well as something I personally have been curious about, curbside voting. Especially in a state with Voter ID laws. Carol gives me the basics.

Afterward, I took a minute to stop by the location where Ted Cruz will be giving his victory or defeat speech tonight. They’re still setting up, but here’s a photo for you.

It remains to be seen if good, steady turnout is good or bad for Cruz. We’ll be posting some exit polling results as the day goes on.
