Also on this date, in 1957, the world’s first full-scale nuclear power plant went online in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, home to America’s only three-eyed fish population (unrelatedly). And finally, today is International Answer the Phone Like Buddy the Elf Day, when you, well, answer the phone like Buddy the Elf from the movie Elf. Like “What’s your favorite color” for example.
