One thing that's very apparent about President Donald Trump, even to the casual observer, is that he shows an energy level that's pretty remarkable for a 78-year-old man. Like him or not, you can't deny the man is full of get-up-and-go.
Now, the results of his annual presidential physical are in, and those findings are about what we'd expect: A picture of a 78-year-old man in pretty good health. A memorandum released by the White House physician concluded:
SUMMARY: President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function. His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being. President Trump's days include participation in multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability, and frequent victories in golf events. President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.
The examination includes this tidbit:
Head/Ears/Nose/Throat: Examination of the head, ears, nose and throat revealed no significant abnormalities with the exception of (scarring) on the right ear from a gunshot wound. Hearing was normal.
That gunshot wound contributed to his reelection effort - it was the moment, in fact, when the entire picture changed. That leap to his feet, the raised fist, the shouting of "Fight! Fight! Fight!" As I've said ever since, it was the most powerful moment in presidential politics since Ronald Reagan stood in front of the Brandenburg Gate and called on Mikhail Gorbachev to "Tear down this wall!"
This moment did not come from a man whose physical or mental health was below par.
As for hearing, heck, I wish my hearing was normal.
President Trump is a sharp contrast to his immediate predecessor, who often came off as being about a squillion years old with the cognitive function of a spatula. And the president isn't shy about drawing that comparison:
.@POTUS on AF1 at 2:15 am: "I'm always available, unlike Biden. Think Biden would do an interview at 2 in the morning? He wouldn't do one at 9 in the morning." 😂 pic.twitter.com/dN5sCCLp9D

The contrast really couldn't be more stark.
In recent weeks, there have suddenly been many Democrats, including some who worked in the Biden administration, coming forward with information on how befuddled old Joe really was. This presents a serious question: Who really was running the show while old Joe was drooling into a pudding cup? My money's on Frau Doktor Professor Jill, playing Edith Wilson to Joe's Woodrow, but the real point is that we just don't know. And we likely never will.
At any rate, those days are over, and we've got a healthy, active president. No, he's not a young man, but he's got energy and determination to spare.
