Making Moves: Kamala Harris 'Setting Timetable' for Her Next Big Political Decision

Townhall Media

Stock up on popcorn, folks — the American political world is about to get a little more entertaining, in the "point and laugh" sense, as Kamala Harris is thinking of sticking her toes back in the political waters. We see now that she is "setting a timetable" for her next big political decision.

Why would she need a timetable to make a decision? Either do it or don't. But this is the Queen of Word Salads we're talking about, so...

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is setting a timetable to make a major decision about her political future.

Harris, who lost last November's White House election to now-President Donald Trump, is seriously considering a 2026 bid to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California.

Additionally, a source in the former vice president's political orbit confirmed to Fox News Digital that Harris has told allies she will decide by the end of summer on whether to launch a gubernatorial campaign. The news was first reported by Politico.

There has been plenty of speculation since last year's election regarding Harris, who replaced then-President Joe Biden as the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential nominee last summer after he dropped out of the race amid mounting questions over his physical and mental stamina.

This is a woman with a long and laughable history of bad political decisions. Her 2020 presidential campaign melted down and collapsed before the first primary vote was cast. She was only picked up by Joe Biden as his running mate for two reasons: 1) She had the correct and promised combination of skin tone and plumbing, and 2) She was an effective life insurance policy for old Joe.

Now she's thinking of running for governor? In a state that, following the implosions of its major cities and a series of utter failures over the recent wildfires, is trending right? California isn't about to become a red state, but it may be turning from deep blue to pale blue, maybe even purple. And Kamala Harris is, politically, to the left of Nikita Khrushchev.

This has the potential to get really funny, really fast.

Here's what the GOP has to do to win this thing, assuming she does run and assuming California Democrats choose her as their standard-bearer:

1) Find a candidate who is brighter, with better political instincts, than Kamala. That, candidly, can't be hard. I mean, just look at her record.

2) Find a candidate more appealing, with more charisma than Kamala. That should be even easier; they could just look under any flat rock.

3) Find a candidate who can win in California. Honestly, like it or not, a reincarnated Ronald Reagan wouldn't win in California today. But there are trends in California that a candidate who can appeal to a wide range could very well ride into office. Like not letting wildfires devour half the state and not being in Ghana when that happens.

Of course, she may not run. Or — and this would likely be even funnier — she may run for president again in 2028. And boy, if you thought her 2020 failure to launch and 2024 flop were something, just wait for any possible Round Three.

Stay tuned, folks. When she makes her decision — no matter what it is — we'll be here to pick it apart.
