Yet another sanctuary jurisdiction is ignoring the law and has released a predator out into the streets, defying an Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer. This time the jurisdiction is Boston, and the illegal alien in question is one Jose Garcia-Salmeron, from El Salvador, an accused rapist.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents apprehended Jose Garcia-Salmeron, a 34-year-old Salvadoran national living unlawfully in the United States, in Boston earlier in January, according to an agency press release. Garcia-Salmeron was charged with rape by a local district court in July, but was released back into the community later that month, despite an immigration detainer lodged against him.
“Jose Garcia-Salmeron is charged with victimizing one of our Massachusetts residents and represents a significant threat to the safety of Massachusetts neighborhoods,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia Hyde stated. “We will not tolerate such threats to our neighbors.”
“ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by targeting, arresting, and removing any illegally present individuals who present such a threat to our New England communities,” Hyde continued.
It's good that ERO Boston is prioritizing public safety because the courts in Massachusetts aren't doing so. Note that Garcia-Salmeron was ordered out of the country, note that he had an immigration detainer filed, and yet the local district court set an accused rapist and illegal alien at liberty on the streets of Boston.
It's no wonder President Trump won the election. This accused predator's record mimics that of all too many of the goblins that ICE and Homeland Security are rounding up right now.
The Salvadoran national unlawfully entered the U.S. in 2007 and had been ordered removed from an immigration judge later that year, according to ICE. He had not been encountered by immigration officials until his local arrest for rape in 2024.
The agency says its detainer for Garcia-Salmeron was ignored by the Chelsea District Court in Massachusetts and he was released back into the community on July 26. Deportation agents were able to make their own apprehension on Jan 22.
The ICE bust follows an announcement by House Republicans that they are launching an investigation into Boston for its sanctuary city policies.
Sanctuary jurisdictions or not, the capture and repatriation efforts will continue.

This whole idea of "sanctuary" for people in the country illegally is ludicrous on its face; we are either a nation of laws or we are not, and these sanctuary states and cities are ignoring what is one of the few legitimate roles of the federal government, namely, controlling immigration and the border. But the times, they are a-changin', and we are seeing that President Trump and his border czar Tom "The Hammer" Homan said what they meant and meant what they said — the apprehensions and repatriations will go on without the cooperation of sanctuary jurisdiction officials. Those officials are succeeding only in making those apprehensions more dangerous and more difficult for everyone involved.
