John Kerry, failed presidential candidate, failed Secretary of State, failed climate czar, and Ted Cassidy look-alike, has never flinched at an opportunity to throw American taxpayer dollars down yet another energy-policy rathole. His latest bit of "we can't be broke, we still have some checks left" idiocy comes as he finger-wags at Africans who are desperate for electricity; Kerry is not only telling them they must choose the "correct" electricity, but that America will pay for it. Nay - America should pay for it.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry claimed that there is a "climate emergency," and suggested that Africans without electricity must select "the right kinds of electricity," likely referring to green energy production, and that the U.S. must help them to afford it.
Kerry made the comments at a speaking event at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics on Nov. 21, 2024.
The Democrat suggested there will be a need to "declare a climate emergency, which is what we really have. And we need to get people to behave as if this really is a major transitional challenge to the whole planet."
He noted that the U.S. has the biggest economy on earth, with China in second place.
The United States does have the biggest economy on earth. We are also $36 trillion in the hole, thanks to stupid ideas like this.
Look, there is one thing I will give John Kerry, that being that when he served in Vietnam - did you know he served in Vietnam? He may have mentioned it once or twice - he did actually serve in a place where he was exposed to enemy fire, unlike a certain fortunate son I could name. But that slight concession was ruined by his bailing the moment he got his third band-aid Purple Heart, and then throwing someone else's medals over the White House fence - and slandering his fellow servicemen in front of Congress and the American people.
Now he's proposing that the American people pick up the tab for "green" African energy.
Fortunately, that Kamala bullet we dodged earlier this month will make sure this, along with many other bad ideas, won't happen. It's a safe bet that the Trump administration won't be down for sending billions of American taxpayer dollars into countries to install solar panels and windmills, or for that matter coal or gas-fired electrical plants. If the nations of Africa want their people to have electricity, they can't and shouldn't start with first-world solutions. They need infrastructure; they need to build fast, reliable generation capacity - not "green energy" boondoggles. And the United States is in no position to pay for it. We have enough troubles of our own.
When it comes to lecturing us about spending American taxpayer money on any of this, John Kerry can take a long-running start and get stuffed.
