Of late, it seems almost daily that we see yet another example of a boy LARPing as a girl and running away with wins in girl's sports. The latest such example comes from (of course)) Massachusetts, where the Collegiate Charter School of Lowell was forced to forfeit a game against KIPP Academy after a boy role-playing as a girl on the KIPP team injured three girls on Lowell's team.
A girls’ basketball game between two Massachusetts schools made waves earlier this month after one team forfeited against their opponent, which had a biological male who identifies as a female on the court, a source told Fox News Digital.
The Collegiate Charter School of Lowell forfeited against KIPP Academy, which resides in Lynn, Massachusetts, at halftime. KIPP was leading the game 31-14, but the game goes into the record as a 10-0 win.
A video circulated online on Monday showing one player for the Collegiate Charter wrestling for a Girl
Girls' sports advocate Riley Gaines took to X to comment and present the video:
Trans-identified male player for Kipp Academy in MA injured 3 girls before half time causing Lowell Collegiate Charter School to forfeit.

A man hitting a woman used to be called domestic abuse. Now it's called brave.

To call this practice grossly unfair to girls on these teams is to be grossly unfair to every grossly unfair thing that has happened before now. Riley Gaines is, as she always is on this issue, correct; one need only watch the video, to witness the almost contemptuous ease with which this boy overpowers a girl on the opposing team, to see just how lopsided this exchange is. There are endless examples, and the legal wrangling over this continues and will likely go on for some time.

But here's what makes this case remarkable: The Lowell team forfeited the game after the injuries suffered by three actual, you know, girls on their girls' team, but after explaining the reasons for their forfeiture in a statement, Lowell went on to include a Stockholm Syndrome-like statement weaseling their way around the fundamental issue, namely that a boy was allowed to unfairly overpower the girls on the court. (Emphasis added)
However, the statement also alluded to the remaining healthy girls expressing "concern" to their coach about continuing to play.
"Once the third was injured, the remaining five expressed concern to him about continuing to play. The players feared getting injured and not being able to compete in the playoffs.
"In an effort to maintain safety for his team, he decided to forfeit. The Charter School supports this decision and reiterates its values of both inclusivity and safety for all students. We take the standards set by the MIAA and our Board of Trustees seriously and strive to uphold them on and off the court. We also follow the guidance from the MIAA and state laws regarding equity and access for all student-athletes."
Why? Why this detestable weaseling, this sniveling cowardice by Lowell? The correct response to this would be:
"Once the third was injured, the remaining five expressed concern to him about continuing to play. The players feared getting injured and not being able to compete in the playoffs.
In an effort to maintain safety for his team, he decided to forfeit. The Charter School supports this decision, and would add that the inclusion of a male player on the KIPP Academy girls' basketball team was grossly unfair not only to the girls playing for the Charter School but also to the KIPP Academy team. Spectators of this game were treated to multiple incidents of Charter School girls being unfairly overpowered by their larger, stronger, faster, and male opponent, to the point where three - not one, not two, but three - actually suffered an injury that could adversely affect their athletic careers.
The Charter School calls on KIPP Academy to remove this male player from their girls' team immediately, and will be pursuing legal avenues to ensure a fair competition for girl and women athletes in Massachusetts going forward."
Until more schools and universities stop allowing this horrendously unfair practice, more girls will be hurt, more valuable scholarships intended for young women will be taken by young men, and more trophies will be unfairly awarded to boys LARPing as girls. It will take involvement by parents and elected officials to put a stop to this; unfortunately for girl athletes in Massachusetts, there seems to be little enthusiasm for countering this travesty.
