These Things Take Time - Trump Team Moves Forward With Cleaning Up How Elections Are Run and Funded

Patience is a virtue, or so I've been told, and it is one of the hardest things for people to grasp and understand, particularly in the fast-moving world that we occupy, where information travels at the speed of light via the Internet.

Yet the Bible emphasizes patience as an essential Christian virtue, particularly in waiting on God and enduring trials with fortitude. Patience is listed among the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.

For those of you who are not of the Christian faith, I would almost like to apologize, but the Bible holds many truths that, still all these years later, offer wisdom and value. So if you are not of the Christian faith, just skip that the source of this is from the Holy Bible.

All of this comes to mind as we approach the hundred-day mark next week of Donald Trump's second term, and lots of folks on the interwebs are getting antsy. The virtual temper tantrums being displayed in some instances are maddening when you consider the mess that they are cleaning up is not from the previous four years of Joe Biden, but the previous 50 years of malfeasance in the federal government.

One hundred days is barely over three months, so honestly, how much do you expect to be done? Take a long, deep breath before you answer that question

Yesterday, my colleague Ward Clark posted a story about some movement in the area of how campaigns are funded and how candidates receive those funds.

READ MORE: President Trump Signs Order Cracking Down on Straw Donors

From that story...

Thursday afternoon, the official Rapid Response 47 X account broke the news that President Trump has signed an order cracking down on illegal "straw donor" political campaign funding schemes and foreign contributions, following an investigation into the matter by the Attorney General.

Here's the really troubling part:

Further, there is evidence to suggest that foreign nationals are seeking to misuse online fundraising platforms to improperly influence American elections.  A recent House of Representatives investigation revealed that a platform named ActBlue had in recent years detected at least 22 “significant fraud campaigns”, nearly half of which had a foreign nexus.  During a 30-day window during the 2024 campaign, the platform detected 237 donations from foreign IP addresses using prepaid cards, indicating that this activity remains a pressing concern.

The whole matter of foreign IP addresses being used to make donations with prepaid cards just smacks of a "Sopranos" episode, and you know some hijinks have to be going on there. If there aren't, I'm going to be supremely disappointed — and with anyone who came up with that idea and did watch "The Sopranos."

Now, I have no problem with any politician or group being criticized. We just came through a phase in this country where elected officials twisted the arms of social media platforms to make sure that a certain point of view was inhibited as much as possible, and then shrugged their shoulders and said, "What are you talking about?"

Thankfully, it looks like that part of American history is over.

Yet, many people who claim to be Trump supporters are throwing some massive tantrums about perp walks not being done to entertain them on the daily news. Now, of course, possibly some of these folks are using fake accounts and are just trying to rile up the base but I have taken the time to every once in a while look at some of these accounts and they seem pretty legit in their support of the president yet they have little to no patience.

I understand that and the impatience we all have at some points, but once again, next week will be the 100-day mark for Trump's second term. That is an artificial marker that is hyped up by the mainstream media to measure presidencies against one of the most destructive presidents, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. When you go back and look at what Roosevelt was able to do in a hundred days, it is truly mind-blowing how quickly he was able to lay the groundwork to set this country back.

I'm not going to sit here using phrases that I think are mind-numbingly void of any reason, like Trust the Process or something along those lines. We need to be observing and questioning our elected officials and the process they are using to straighten up the mess that has been left for them, and in some cases has been created by them over our lifetime.

However, patience is one part of the process that we do need to recognize and have in our toolbox, and we need to recognize it and remind ourselves of it.

Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
