Greta Thunberg Gets Arrested for the Simple Offense of Protesting Gas and Oil Conference

When I came across this story a little while ago, it brought me such joy because it's about one of my all-time favorite people in the world that I've never had the pleasure of meeting, Britney Spears.

Whoops, scratch that, I mean Greta Thunberg.

For some reason that I still have not figured out, I think Greta and Britney are the same person and I truly don't know why. There's just something similar about both of them that I can't put my finger on.

Anywho, if you don't recall who Greta is, she made quite a name for herself a couple of years back at a U.N. conference when she lectured the audience about how she had to skip school and paddle a boat across the ocean to be environmentally conscious in her effort to get there.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, here is one of my all-time drops on my radio show of HOW DARE YOU.

Isn't she a peach?

The last time I recall hearing about the pint-sized environmental princess was last June when my colleague Brittany Sheehan checked in with this post: Greta Thunberg Is in Ukraine to Shame Us About 'Ecocide,' Gets It Half Right

From her post...

On Thursday, Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Kyiv Capitol. The gathering was an inaugural meeting for a working environmental group of prominent European figures to assess the damage the war has brought to the region over the last 16 months.

Thunberg criticized the global response to a blast to the Kakhovka dam that occurred on June 6, causing flooding in Russian-occupied areas of the Kherson region. Russia and Ukraine have each blamed the other for the dam’s destruction, which Ukraine said totals $1.3 billion in damages. Ukraine is investigating the incident as a war crime or potential criminal ecological destruction. In the wake of the dam’s breach, Zelensky called it “an environmental bomb of mass destruction.”

So you can imagine my excitement when I was able to catch up with good ole Greta here.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been charged with a public order offense after being arrested at a demonstration against an oil and gas industry conference in London.

The Metropolitan Police force said Wednesday that the 20-year-old Swedish campaigner was one of 26 people charged after protesters gathered outside the luxury InterContinental Hotel during the Energy Intelligence Forum. Thunberg was among dozens of protesters who chanted “oily money out” and sought to block access to the hotel on Tuesday.

Thunberg was detained and taken to a police station before being released overnight, police said.

She was charged with breaching a section of the Public Order Act that allows police to impose limits on public assemblies and was released on bail until a Nov. 15 hearing at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court. The other protesters facing charges were also allowed bail.

Now you might be thinking to yourself:

Hey Duke, we know you've fallen off the rocker being you think that Greta is comparable in any way to Britney Spears, so why does this story bring you joy?

Great question, and let me answer it for you.

The world is quite simply looking like it's breaking at the seams right now. I didn't write this piece a couple of days ago here at RedState, The Writing Is on the Wall: America Likely to Be Hit Because of the Invasion From Mexico, because I was bored. I wrote it because I believe we are in a whole heap of trouble and I feel it needs to be said. With the number of illegals that have streamed across our border and the brief number crunching I have done in the article above, I don't feel warm and fuzzy.

We have had pretty much a wide-open border since January 20, 2021, when Joe Biden took the oath of office to be President of the United States. The administration stopped building the Trump border wall and did everything but send flyers down to Central America and the rest of the world so that they could skip across the Rio Grande and gain entry without authorities checking they are. Of course, this policy was just reversed within the past week, but it's really a case of too little too late.

So if I have my math correct from Ward's count above, he quotes about 3.8 million people who have illegally crossed since Scranton Joe took the helm. So let's do an odd thing and LOWER that number to 3 million people. Now we take those 3 million folks and estimate that approximately one-quarter of one percent have some evil intent; that gives us 7,500 such people in this country illegally. Now they could be just bank robbers or common thieves, possibly some murders or other dastardly things.

If you increase the percentage, you increase the total number, and does that make you feel safe?

What are the chances it is more?

So being that the baseball season is over for my Detroit Tigers and the countdown to spring training is still too far away—the action kicks off again in February—I have to find some things to take my mind off the current situation.

You see, back just a couple of months to a couple of years ago, people like Greta made me laugh.

The arrogance of some kid who probably just learned how to tie her shoes within the past couple of years lecturing anybody on anything was just the height of humor for me. That a bunch of schmucks who had declared themselves protectors of the Earth took her seriously was even funnier.

So her going to the U.N. and scowling and hissing how dare you to a room full of adults who took her schtick brought real joy to me because it showed me that these people were not to be taken seriously.

People who fire missiles as a prelude to invading a country and then kidnap, rape, and behead people need to be taken seriously.

So whenever I get the chance now, I'm going to soak up every moment of recalling the simple somewhat harmless idiocy of those who think that we were destroying the Earth and that we only had 10 to 12 years to live on it. Those people had a very limited understanding of history and didn't seem to have a clue that Mount Saint Helens did more in a 4-hour eruption in 1980 than man could do in the next hundred years.

So if you will excuse me, I'm going to go find some vintage Abbie Hoffman tape and laugh myself to sleep before tomorrow morning comes when I have to read about the real threat to humanity in the Middle East.
