I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most people who lean somewhat conservative have heard of Peggy Noonan and know about her time in the White House as one of Ronald Reagan's speech writers.
I'm also going to go a little bit farther out on this limb and say that you probably have admired some of her work not only in her time at the White House but possibly with some of her books or writings as a columnist, primarily at the Wall Street Journal.
You're probably not as enamored with her time as the token Republican over on NBC or MSNBC and how she has to twist herself into a pretzel to blend in with some of the lunacy of the talking heads at that network.
She briefly broke the mold of her talking head persona over at the Peacock Network and uttered some basic common sense things about Joe Biden that the majority of America is now agreeing with. I was pleasantly surprised when I read about her comments right here.
She does not get a perfect 10 unfortunately because of a nonsensical, critical comparison.
Peggy Noonan, a columnist for the Wall Street Journal, argued President Biden cannot resist the "river of power" and in turn is making a "historical mistake" by remaining in the 2024 race.
Noonan noted multiple instances of media figures calling on the president to suspend his 2024 campaign.
"In insisting on running he is making a historical mistake. Second terms are disaster sites, always now. He isn’t up to it; it will cloud what his supporters believe is a fine legacy and allow the Kamala Harris problem to fester and grow. She is proof that profound and generational party dominance in a state tends to yield mediocrity," Noonan wrote.
That all sounded good and she is spot on with that take but then she had to slip in a dig at Trump just to keep the MSNBC rabid dogs at bay I suppose.
"The closer the election gets, the less you can imagine Mr. Biden commanding a real re-election drive, one with enough energy and focus, while Mr. Trump, who looks physically worse than Mr. Biden, seems in his brain to be exactly what he was in 2016 and will continue with his mad vigor," she wrote.
You have to be kidding me, Peggy.
The closer the election gets, the less you can imagine Mr. Biden commanding a real re-election drive?
I don't know what you've been watching for the past two years Peggy, but Biden hasn't been able to command the ability to put two sentences together that are coherent. I can almost imagine and hear speechwriter Peggy Noonan writing a speech for Bumbling Joe and banging her head into the wall as he mangles the words or just flat-out makes things up.
...while Mr. Trump, who looks physically worse than Mr. Biden, seems in his brain to be exactly what he was in 2016 and will continue with his mad vigor."
This observation above I guess had to be made to keep invites coming from Morning Joe and the low-rated evening shows featuring Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell.
Donald Trump looks pretty much the same as he did in 2016 when he ran and has the same attitude. If she means that Trump looks worse than Biden physically she must be just looking at his waistline. Under no circumstances would somebody who has observed both of the men just walking from point A to point B say Biden is in better shape than Trump.
Trump would still be able to walk up the big boy stairs on Air Force One and not the kiddie ramp on the back of the plane for the staff and the press, for cripes sake.
Peggy doesn't need to take my word for this she can look up what his biographer said in an article I just wrote yesterday Biden Biographer Says It Would Not Be a 'Total Shock' if He Dropped out of 2024 Race. From that post:
“I would say it would, it would be a surprise to me. But it wouldn’t be a total surprise,” Foer said, adding that “it wouldn’t be a total shock.”
“When he talks about his life, he uses this word, fate, constantly,” he said. “Joe Biden is a very religious guy, and fate is a word loaded with religious meaning. And he always talks about, ‘He can’t say where fate goes.’ And so I always, when I hear that, to me, it’s the ellipses in the sentence when he’s talking about his own future.”
When the guy who just finished observing what Scranton Pennsylvania's Best has done in the White House since January 20th, 2021, and says he wouldn't be surprised if Biden didn't run, that's not because Joe doesn't crave power. That's because he is slowly breaking down, and I'm using the word "slowly" generously.
There is nobody in this country who believes truthfully that Joe Biden Is doing better than Donald Trump in any aspect of his life at this very moment. If you actually believe that, I question your mental stability, or you're just a partisan hack who just likes to say things to make you feel good inside.
As I have said many times on these pages and my radio show, I don't give a damn about your feelings.
Hopefully, Peggy will learn from this small error and continue her career of interesting writing and observations. I predict that will fully flourish after her time ducking liberal talking points at MSNBC ends.
