With the call of ” Thank you for flying Space X” mission control in Hawthorne California welcomed back U.S. astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken from the International Space Station to Earth. This was the first time that the United States has safely landed a capsule since 1975.
This also is the first venture of sending people up and bringing them back in a joint government-private sector mission. NASA has joined with Elon Musk’s company SPACE-X and opens up the distinct possibilities of commercial space flight sooner rather than later.
We all want to leave the planet right about now don’t we?
Here is a video from NBC on the splashdown.
