Donald Trump and shock jock, Howard Stern, have been friends for years.

Trump and his wife, Melania, were guests at Stern’s wedding and Trump has been on Stern’s show many times.

The friendship is such that even though Stern was a Hillary supporter, when he was asked to turn over the audio of past Trump appearances on his show by reporters and political opponents that may have damaged Trump during the race, he refused.

Stern was asked about Trump earlier in the week, and he expressed some concern about his friend.

Specifically, Stern feels the presidency could be an emotional and mental strain on the 70-year old Trump, who, in his words, has a “very sensitive ego.”

“I personally wish that he had never run. I told him that because I actually think this is something that is going to be detrimental to his mental health…He really does want to be loved, he does want people to really love him, that drives him a lot. I think he has a very sensitive ego.”

This is something we have probably already figured out, given his Twitter rants over the most minor slights and his inability to just let things go.

Further, Stern suggested that Trump, despite his relationship with the press and some of the Hollywood celebrities who were coming out against him with such vitriol, that these were the people that Trump cared about, the most. Celebrities were his crowd.

Stern and his co-host, Robin Quivers, discussed the events leading up to Trump’s entrance into the presidential race.

Notably, they pointed out what others have speculated about, that Trump was in negotiations with NBC, regarding “The Apprentice.”

Half-jokingly, Stern mused:

“He just wanted a couple more bucks out of NBC, and that is why Donald is calling for voter fraud investigations…He’s pissed he won. He still wants Hillary Clinton to win. He’s so f*cking pissed, he’s hoping that he can find some voter fraud and hand it over to Hillary.”

It’s a little late for that.

It’s an interesting take, and one that I don’t feel is far off the mark, given what we’ve already seen about Trump’s demeanor and the way he handles himself with the press or anybody else who opposes him.
