Did they? Didn’t they?

While the investigation from the U.S. intelligence community points to Russia as the source of hacks that supplied all the atrocious emails from the DNC before the election, Donald Trump and his people insist that there is little, or no proof.

On Monday, incoming White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, said there was no evidence of Russian involvement. This morning, a former CIA operative is taking exception to Spicer and the Trump camp’s remarks.

“What the hell is that dude talking about?” Phil Mudd said on CNN’s “New Day.”

“His boss has come out and already drawn conclusions and said I don’t believe them,” Mudd said, referring to Trump. “Meanwhile, on the other side, Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the intelligence community have come out and said with high confidence, ‘We say that the Russians hacked information related to the elections.’ “

The information came in the form of emails among heads of the Democrat National Committee, people like Donna Brazile, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and John Podesta – and some of it was pretty awful.

At question, it seems, is how much of an influence did these emails have on the election results, and why weren’t Republican emails hacked, as well?

Julian Assange, the head of WikiLeaks, who released the documents has suggested that there were Republican emails, but nothing about Trump could be as awful as what he was saying openly, anyway.

Yes. I laughed at that one, because I know it’s true.

Our Kimberly Ross brought up a very important point of note on the subject.

We can’t know how much of an influence the release of those DNC emails had. Hillary was just an awful candidate and voters rejected her. Democrats need to get their heads around that one.

That being said, whether Obama’s swift actions to condemn Russia, based on the report from the FBI and Homeland Security is simply a partisan jab on his way out the door or not, Trump’s casual dismissal of our nation’s intelligence community is a problem.

“To say either from the Trump camp or from the government camp that we don’t know what happened and we’re going to wait for the report, do we ignore history here? I don’t get it, Chris. This is ridiculous,” Mudd told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

A final note for Americans for both camps to remember: Russia is not our friend, so when you see Republicans praising Putin, it’s not a good thing.
