President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of Harmeet K. Dhillon to serve as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice on Monday (see With Harmeet Dhillon, Trump Adds Another Stellar Pick to His Administration – RedState), sending a clear message that the Biden way of doing business was over. Dhillon has been a highly visible advocate for civil liberties, notably challenging tech companies for free speech censorship, representing Christians during the COVID-19 restrictions, and opposing corporate "woke" policies. Trump described Dhillon as "one of the top election lawyers in the Country," emphasizing her role in ensuring fair elections and her commitment to upholding constitutional rights. Dhillon was critical in developing the GOP election integrity program that successfully challenged the usual Democrat shenanigans in several states during the 2024 election. T
After Kristen Clarke's maladministration, this nomination heralds Trump's intent to tackle civil rights issues based on the philosophy of equality under the law. Something that should go without saying.
The reputation of the DOJ is in tatters, thanks to Merrick Garland and his Civil Rights Chief Kristen Clarke. We know all about what Garland has done, but as a reminder, Clarke lied to the Senate during her confirmation about being arrested, denounced the police over ... Jussie Smollett, and had pro-life fathers arrested in front of their families even after local authorities said there was no crime to prosecute.
Oh, and remember that pesky campaign issue Kamala Harris had regarding taxpayer-funded 'gender-affirming care' for prisoners? Clarke supported it as well and even issued an official DOJ statement to that effect.
You can't please everyone. Democrat election lawyer Marc Elias, in particular, suffered from a bad case of grit in the undies.

This will put pressure on groups and election lawyers to fight for voting rights in court. DOJ will be on the side of vote suppressors and election deniers. pic.twitter.com/8xQBUIRUaY
Elias, dubbed a "shady Dem lawyer" by the New York Post, has been at ground zero of virtually every attempt to destroy election integrity in this country.

If you want to prevent voter ID, keep states from cleaning fake voters from their poll books, extend voting times arbitrarily to favor your candidate, create racially balkanized voting districts, or "find" uncounted ballots in a close race, Elias is your man.

No wonder Elias tried to steal the election. https://t.co/Nii1WmM1oX pic.twitter.com/ul8Dsi8RYc
With Merrick Garland's cretinous crew in the Department of Justice, business was good. He could reliably count on whatever pro-Democrat scheme he came up with to have the support of the federal government. In fact, Elias was gearing up for an off-season legal campaign to shape the electoral battlefield for 2026 and 2028 while no one was watching.

That strategy will be much tougher with Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.
