If there is one thing that people of goodwill of all political persuasions can agree upon it is that Adam Schiff if is a dishonest, smarmy little weasel who lies for any or no reason and whose character would be immensely improved upon by a vigorous beat down. What makes Schiff’s lies so noxious is that he doesn’t lie about things, about facts, so much as he tells lies to assassinate the characters of better people than himself…which, in fairness, is just about the rest of the nation.

One of the worst cases of this took place in February 2018.

At the time, there was an investigation going on inside the House Intelligence Committee about a number of facets of the Russia Hoax. One of those items was the FISA warrants the FBI obtained to permit surveillance of Carter Page and, indirectly, of the Trump campaign and transition team. Then-Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, California Republican Devin Nunes, undertook an exhaustive investigation into those FISA warrant applications and produced a document, usually called the Nunes Memo, that completely exposed the fraud the FBI perpetrated upon a willing and credulous Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC).

This elicited a response from Adam Schiff, who purported to have viewed the same documents and claimed that:

Since that time, we’ve had the benefit of an examination of the subject by Department of Justice IG Michael Horowitz. Horowitz’s investigation found that two of the Page warrants were facially illegal. He found an FBI lawyer–who oddly enough ended up on the Mueller investigation–falsified evidence to justify one of the warrants. We find the FBI used newspaper or magazine articles they knew were sourced from the Steele Dossier’s author to validate statements that appeared in the Steele Dossier. We know that the FBI knew that Steele, himself, did not have a high level of confidence in some of his sources but this was never shared with the FISC.

In short, Adam Schiff’s memo answering the findings by Devin Nunes was nothing but one continuous lie and the only question is whether Schiff simply did not read the files and constructed his sick little fantasy from whole cloth…or whether he did read the files and decided to lie about their contents to forward his political agenda and to try to damage Nunes. (The third option, of course, is that he read the files but is a freakin moron incapable of comprehending them and then wrote the memo. Because I’m being charitable today, I’m going to assume that did not happen.) Needless to say, Schiff’s memo was held up by the left and NeverTrump as being true. Even here, on this website, Schiff’s memo was portrayed as being truthful and Nunes’s work was dismissed as something done to curry favor with President Trump.

Yesterday, the House Oversight Committee heard from DOJ IG Michael Horowitz at a hearing on revising the current laws concerning whistleblower protection. Jim Jordan had different ideas. He wanted to talk about FISA. And he wanted to dunk on Adam Schiff. Both were worthy endeavors.

The key exchange is this:

JORDAN: Two years ago Mr. Schiff said the Department of Justice met the rigor, transparency, and evidentiary basis needed to meet FISA’s probable cause requirement. Is that an accurate statement?

HOROWITZ: Given the number and nature of omissions and inaccuracies in there we certainly hadn’t characterized what they had done as following the rules or complying with the rigor required of a FISA application.

This point cannot be made enough. Adam Schiff, in addition to being a contemptible excuse for a man, is a pathological liar. The GOP needs to take every possible opportunity to drive this point home and to make Schiff’s name synonymous with lying.
