One of the mini-melodramas that erupted during the 2016 election was the revelation that DNC chair Donna Brazile was working hand-in-glove with the Clinton campaign to the detriment of the Sanders campaign. In an email released by WikiLeaks it was shown that Brazile was using her access as a CNN contributor to pass along inside information about debate questions so Clinton would look coherent and not like her usual inarticulate and befuddled self.
When Brazile was called out on it she lied, and lied, and lied. She lied to the public. She lied to her colleagues. She lied to her employer. Until finally even CNN couldn’t handle the stench of the lies — and that, my friends, is the equivalent of seeing a maggot gag on a garbage heap — and fired her.
Now, in a pathetic op-ed in Time, she confesses:
Then in October, a subsequent release of emails revealed that among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and D.N.C. Vice Chair prior to assuming the interim D.N.C. Chair position was to share potential town hall topics with the Clinton campaign. I had been working behind the scenes to add more town hall events and debates to the primary calendar, and I helped ensure those events included diverse moderators and addressed topics vital to minority communities. My job was to make all our Democratic candidates look good, and I worked closely with both campaigns to make that happen. But sending those emails was a mistake I will forever regret.
By stealing all the DNC’s emails and then selectively releasing those few, the Russians made it look like I was in the tank for Secretary Clinton.
This would be the email that at the time Brazile insisted she had not sent and had been forged. And damn those Russians for making it look like she was in the tank for Clinton just because she was sharing debate questions with the Clinton campaign and giving the Sanders campaign absolutely nothing.
