As I posted a couple of days ago, on the last morning he was in office John Kerry notified Congress he had released $221 million to the Palestinians. He did this knowing that part of that money was used to pay support payments to the family of suicide attackers and to terrorists in Israeli prisons. This was a disreputable act by a disreputable man serving in a disreputable administration.
I’d assumed that the money had actually been released days earlier and the announcement was made as a last second FOAD gesture to the Trump administration. But, much in keeping with the haphazard and slapdash way Kerry has approached everything in his life… except marrying a very rich woman to support him… he actually released the money that morning. Bad move.
The State Department is reviewing a last-minute decision by former Secretary of State John Kerry to send $221 million dollars to the Palestinians late last week over the objections of congressional Republicans.
The department said Tuesday it would look at the payment and might make adjustments to ensure it comports with the Trump administration’s priorities.
The Times of Israel has more:
US officials conveyed to PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Tuesday that the funds were not expected to be handed over in the immediate future, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
This stunt, along with the actions by the Palestinians, have poisoned the well in regards to future aid. Not only is the Trump administration predisposed to not help them, the GOP caucus is in the same mood.
