DID I HEAR THAT RIGHT? Does Marco Rubio Nearly Make An Endorsement For President?

Last night, Senator Marco Rubio gave his first extended interview since suspending his campaign. The venue he chose was Mark Levin’s LevinTV.

The full interview is behind pay-wall and I’m too cheap to pay so you’ll have to settle for this:

The two touched on a host of topics, including Rubio’s future political plans, his foreign policy vision, and who he thinks should be the president.

When Levin asked Rubio who he would be supporting for the corner office, Rubio said that his delegates are bound on the first ballot. He added that on subsequent ballots, “I hope that they’ll nominate a conservative.” Rubio added, “the only one[presidential candidate] that fits that criteria is Ted Cruz.”

Recently Rubio made it clear to state Republican parties that he has not withdrawn from the race completely. He did that in order to ensure that every one of his delegates was bound to him on the first ballot of an open convention. Most state GOP officials have complied with his wishes.

Rubio also said there was no freakin way he would be Donald Trump’s vice president, a trial balloon Trump floated earlier in the week:

Rubio also shouted down any speculation that he could be Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick, after the billionaire said he would consider Rubio to be on his ticket.

ā€œIā€™m not going to be the vice president,” the Florida senator said.

As I reported yesterday, we’re starting to see some collaboration between Rubio’s supporters in state government and party apparatus and the Cruz campaign. Significantly, the two closed ranks to shut out Donald Trump loyalists from any spots on the Arkansas delegate slate. (As an aside, this last post was widely and approvingly tweeted by Donald Trump fans… not being able to read can cause embarrassment.) One hopes this is more than merely another manifestation of the #NeverTrump movement and that the hatchet can be buried between two of the most talented conservatives currently on the scene.
