Despite the White House/Pentagon's collective shrug over the mystery drone situation, several Capitol Hill lawmakers are sounding the alarm bell over it, including New Jersey Senator Cory Booker (D) and New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D).
House leadership roles are being finalized, with Brian Mast (R-FL) set to chair the Foreign Affairs Committee and French Hill (R-AR) set to chair the Financial Services Committee. Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) is throwing his support behind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as the ranking member of the committee, expressing optimism that he'd have a good (or better) working relationship with AOC than he's had with Jamie Raskin (D-MD).

It's another relatively quiet day for President Joe Biden (assuming he's not issuing all manner of pardons and commutations again) Friday, with just his Daily Brief in the morning, followed by a virtual G7 meeting. Thirty-eight more days...

Sean "Diddy" Combs has won a minor victory regarding the conditions of his confinement — the Metropolitan Detention Center has been ordered not to turn over logs documenting his visits with his attorneys to the Government and also to provide him broader access to the laptop on which the discovery materials produced have been loaded. (It's the little things.) There's another status conference set in the case next Wednesday. Meanwhile, he's facing oodles of civil suits.
A New York City grand jury is hearing evidence related to Luigi Mangione, accused killer of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
MORNING MUSING
The big Army-Navy game is set for Saturday, and there will be some heavy hitters there, both on and off the field. We know President-elect Donald Trump will be there, as will Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Now we know that newly acquitted Daniel Penny will also be in attendance as a guest of Vice President-elect JD Vance.
Daniel’s a good guy, and New York’s mob district attorney tried to ruin his life for having a backbone.
