CNN's Jim Acosta Weighs in on Biden 'Napgate' and Gets Exactly the Responses He Deserves

Dear Diary, would you make sure the CNN set is stocked with extra-strength Tylenol, blank copies of the Hurt Feelings Report, smelling salts, and fainting couches on election night?

They can't even convince the staffers.

What a mess.

Nikki Haley Ends ABC's Stephanopoulos With Just 4 Words: 'Believe Me Now, George?'

As badly as the president was exposed by his vacant stares and incoherent mumbling during the debate, the media was exposed just as gravely for covering this up for so long.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

The only congressional business going on as we celebrate the Fourth of July is the behind-the-scenes machinations — primarily by Democrats — regarding what to do about the presidency and the upcoming election. Expect things to get lively back on the Hill once we're through the holiday.

White House What's Up

It will be a quiet morning and early afternoon for President Joe Biden. Presumably, he'll be spending it with family. Or napping. (No word on who's bringing the cocaine this year.) But Thursday evening, he and First Lady Jill will be hosting a Fourth of July celebration on the South Lawn for active military and veteran families. Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will attend as well.

Full Court Press...

It should be a quiet day in the courts as they're all closed for the holiday. However, on this date in 2023, U.S. District Court Judge Terry Doughty released his blockbuster opinion in the then-titled Missouri v. Biden case, so who knows if we'll see any other freedom-loving judges wow us with an Independence Day decision?

MORNING MUSING

Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. It might be second only to Christmas. I love that we take a day to just celebrate the heck out of our country — in all its messy glory. This one's a bit different. First off, the weather here in old STL is sketchy at best — thunderstorms and heavy rain this morning; severe thunderstorms expected this evening. That kind of puts a damper on pool time and fireworks. Second, I'm working much of the day. Don't get me wrong — I love my job and love being able to spend the day bringing you, our dear readers, the content you count on. It just makes it seem a bit less holiday-ish. Third, everything feels a bit out of sorts and chaotic (because it is). Nevertheless, I'll persist and raise a beer and a sparkler to y'all and this fantabulous, beautiful old country of ours!
