With all that said, don't take my writings as a defense of Biden. He deserves every bit of this. These are the lunatics he courted and empowered. He built a coalition of some of the worst people in America, and watching them go after him is supremely satisfying.

Today on Capitol Hill...
No hearings are set on Friday. Most Members of Congress may still be recuperating from a late night listening to President Joe Biden yell at them at the State of the Union address.
Of course, most of the members have shared their reaction to Biden's speech — Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) had the rebuttal last night. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) had some thoughts of his own. Even Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) had some criticisms regarding the partisan nature of Biden's speech.

Over on the House side, Speaker Mike Johnson (who may have won the night with his eminently meme-able facial expressions) had his own criticisms of the president's performance.
But the business of Congressing goes on. The House Education Committee sent a letter to MIT Friday morning demanding that it turn over records on its antisemitism investigation.

Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) began her letter to MIT President Sally Kornbluth and MIT Corporation Chair Mark Gorenberg saying lawmakers are probing the school’s “response to antisemitism and its failure to protect Jewish students. We have grave concerns regarding the inadequacy of MIT’s response to antisemitism on campus.”

No doubt, the president is resting up a bit from that...um...energetic performance Thursday night. Friday afternoon, he and First Lady Jill are off to Pennsylvania for a campaign event in/near Philadelphia, before returning to Delaware to spend the night.
MORNING MUSING
I'm going to keep this short and sweet: If there's a person out there who was waffling on whether or not to vote for Biden in November but now is sold after watching/listening to the SOTU, I'd like to meet them. Seriously. I'd like to know what moved the needle. Because, from my perspective, the only needle moved was on the decibel meter. My ears are still bleeding.
