It's Tuesday and another Election Day — this time in New York's Third Congressional District, where a special election is being held to replace George Santos (R) following his expulsion from Congress in December.

Vying for the seat in today's race are Santos' predecessor, Tom Suozzi (D), who lost his 2022 gubernatorial bid in the Democratic primary to Kathy Hochul, and Nassau County legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip (R). As we noted when Pilip was nominated to run for the seat, she boasts quite the impressive resume: Orthodox Jewish, Ethiopian-Israeli mother of seven — and former IDF paratrooper.

With the most recent polling showing Suozzi with a four-point lead, turnout could be a key factor in this race, and unfortunately for those looking for a solid election-day turnout, New York is in the midst of a snowstorm.
