Moore to the Point - Wolves in Expert's Clothing

Early in the COVID pandemic, I wrote an article at RedState regarding the dangers of experts who “cry wolf.” My point was that there is a measurable harm that flows from respected “experts” (in any field, but particularly science and medicine) losing their objectivity and becoming activists, pushing a partisan agenda. They may justify it to themselves, but what they’re ultimately doing is undercutting the very faith they request (and sometimes demand) others place in them.

Which is exactly what many of the experts who weighed in on COVID have done. In the media and social media, the preferred narratives developed quickly – typically whatever contradicted President Trump. Rather than being guided by science, we were ruled by ideological acrimony, and we continue to pay the price for that.

Former FDA commissioner and Pfizer board member Dr. Scott Gottlieb was one of those so-called “experts” I criticized at the time, pointing out some of his alarmist claims regarding COVID infection and death rates which were inconsistent with the actual data. Little did I know that Gottlieb would go on to actively pressure Twitter to silence those who raised questions about the vaccine.

What we’re learning now from the Twitter Files is that these experts didn’t merely cry wolf – some of them actually were the wolves.
