It’s been a bad week for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), and on Thursday, it got worse.
As RedState reported earlier, House Democrats are getting extremely frustrated over the debt ceiling negotiations and what they’re learning on the details of what’s said to be an “emerging” debt ceiling/government spending deal between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
Not surprisingly, one of them is AOC, who took to the House floor Thursday to not only air her grievances but to also insinuate that no one has ever complained about the government doing “too much for them” before:
“But they are accusing Democrats of saying we spend too much. For anyone that wants to entertain that thought, I ask you to think about the last time a person has said in his country that the government does too much for them. That their social security check was too high, that teachers are paid too much. When was the last time anyone has heard or seen that?”

For Republicans, the question of when was the “last time a person has said in his country that the government does too much for them” was an easy one to answer. Among them was Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.), who brought up over-taxation and over-regulation, Joe Biden shutting down the Keystone pipeline project on day one, the draconian government actions taken at the federal, state, and local levels during the COVID pandemic, as well as the 87,000 new IRS agents as some of the major examples of the government doing “too much”:

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) also weighed in, bringing up the trillions in debt the United States is in, a “wide open border,” a DHS that “doesn’t actually secure the homeland,” as well as FBI and IRS agents showing up at people’s houses in what are clear instances of the government being weaponized as examples of the type of “more government” that people most definitely do not want, but that Democrats do.

In my opinion, every single Republican in the House should have stood up and answered AOC’s question, even if it took all night going into the next day. We’re headed into another crucial presidential election year battle where so much is on the line, and as far as I’m concerned, the American people can’t be reminded too much of the long-term damage Democrats did to this country during the course of the Wuhan virus outbreak, and what they continue to do to the American people today under the banner of “wokeness.”
