Undoubtedly, the biggest criticism Kamala Harris has faced since being sworn in as Vice President has been on the issue of her calamitous handling of the border crisis.
Back in March, Joe Biden made her his “point person” on the issues at the southern border between the United States and Mexico, and said in so many words that he trusted her completely and that whatever she did he would approve without even needing to be consulted.
Sadly, the issues at the border have gotten even worse, made doubly so by the fact that Harris has had to be shamed into visiting the border area and the Northern Triangle countries of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, which we were informed by White House press secretary Jen Psaki was where Harris needed to be in order to address the “root causes” of illegal immigration.
Compounding the matter was that her “visit” to the border, which was hastily planned after former President Trump announced his own impending visit, consisted of going to El Paso, which is not considered to be the area where the biggest problems facing border control agents are.
Further, her early June “Northern Triangle” trip was an utter disaster, especially after Guatemala’s President Alejandro Giammattei did an interview during Harris’s trip to his country and point-blank blamed the Biden-Harris administration for the border surge.
Unfortunately for the Biden administration – Kamala Harris specifically – Giammattei is speaking out again on diplomatic relations between the two countries. And what he said just blew the White House’s “root causes” narrative right out of the water:
Reporter: “Other than your meeting with Kamala Harris in June?”
Guatemala's President: “That’s the only one”
Reporter: “That is the only communication you’ve had with the Biden Administration about illegal immigration?”
Guatemala's President: “Yep” pic.twitter.com/Ckr0KafNaE

Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin, who has been reporting live from the border for months now, provided his own translation for what Giammattei said:
The White House and VP Harris have repeatedly said she is working on the “root causes” of immigration with the Northern Triangle countries, but in an interview w/ @johnrobertsFox, Guatemala’s President says he hasn’t heard from Harris or Biden since June. https://t.co/3zkGXphunj

So not only has Harris not visited the Northern Triangle region since her June trip (something we already knew) but apparently, there have been no phone calls or virtual conferences between Harris and Giammattei, either, on the subject of the “root causes” of the border crisis and how to go about resolving them.
To reemphasize, this is the area that the White House has told us is central to resolving the problems at the border. And yet Biden’s own point person on this matter, his second in command, can’t even be bothered to follow up with leaders of those countries after her lone visit, which was months ago?
If she hasn’t been doing this, exactly what has Kamala Harris been doing?
Well, lemme see. Harris was seen at a New Jersey bakery back in mid-October sampling sweet treats alongside Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), at the same time DHS Sec. Mayorkas and other senior members of the administration were holding critical high-level talks with Mexico’s president about the border crisis.
It wasn’t the first time Harris was seen enjoying bakery treats in the midst of the crisis. Back in April, Harris was spotted at a Chicago bakery just a week or so after Biden had announced her border role. When asked why Harris was at the bakery and not visiting the border, White House press secretary Jen Psaki incredibly said that Harris was “allowed” a snack like every other American was.
The optics of both bakery visits were, of course, terrible.
Then there were the bizarre and scripted “space council” videos where Harris talked with a group of kids about the wonders of outer space, and came off sounding more like an animated Disney character than the Vice President of the United States.
I could go on and on, but I’m getting madder and madder just thinking about all the things she’s been doing (and not doing) as the crisis at the border worsens, so I’ll stop there. Kamala Harris is just not very good at what she does and is not ready for prime time, and it shows every time she speaks, every time her staffers try to speak on her behalf, and every time we have to hear from a world leader as to just how bad she and her boss are at their jobs.
