Oklahoma Governor Has Deliciously Perfect Response to PETA Billboard Calling Him a 'Meathead'

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt holds a cookout near the Capitol, May 12, 2021, in response to PETA "meathead" billboard.

As people reading this already know, there are times when a man needs to take the bull by the horns and show his critics who’s boss, and that is exactly what Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt did earlier this week in the aftermath of an attack from the radicals in the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals group, also known as “PETA.”

Stitt, a Republican, announced back in March that March 22-26 would be “#MeatAllWeek” week after Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, a Democrat, declared March 20th a “MeatOut Day.” Polis’ actions sparked what the New York Times referred to at the time as a “meat war” in the region, with neighboring state leaders and various cattleman’s associations and the like pushing back by promoting meat consumption and showing support for the agriculture community.

An enraged PETA responded by letting Gov. Stitt know that they planned on putting up a billboard near the State Capitol calling him a “meathead.” It went up in April and is still up as of this writing. Here’s what it looks like:

Stitt fired back in the most deliciously possible way by hosting a meat-filled cookout on Wednesday – right next to the PETA billboard:

One local reporter on the scene made sure people understood just how big the grill actually was. LOL:

Heh. So it would appear that Texas isn’t the only state that likes to “go big.”

Here are some photos from the event, some of which were taken with the billboard in the background:

PETA, of course, was most definitely not amused by Gov. Stitt’s actions:

“PETA is sending the governor a back brace, since he must be in agony from all the bowing and scraping he has to do to keep his meat-industry backers happy,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement. “His constituents who end up in critical care with cancer, heart disease, strokes, and other conditions associated with meat consumption deserve everyone’s sympathy.”

Along with the back brace, Ms. Newkirk might want to get a little more generous with her care package and send the Governor’s office a hefty supply of TUMS antacids for heartburn relief, although I’m sure it was entirely worth it. 😉
