Kayleigh McEnany Drops Hammer on Media's Hunter/Swalwell Coverage, Expertly Triggers Jim Acosta (Watch)

As per the norm, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany took to the podium for the daily press briefing today and was prepared for the routine games the press corps often plays by letting them know she was not there to indulge them in any way.

There were many highlight-reel moments from today’s briefing, but perhaps the best one came at the end when McEnany roasted the media for how they covered the two big Hunter Biden stories that broke in October and December as well as the story that broke earlier this month about Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell’s extensive connections with a Chinese national.

McEnany noted Swalwell was one of the “lead instigators” of the Russian/Trump collusion hoax, which the media routinely amplified even though no evidence existed. She also pointed out that though the media eagerly gave Swalwell all the airtime he wanted to spout his baseless claims about Trump during the run-up to the left’s impeachment glory days, they were suddenly mostly quiet when Swalwell was implicated in the Chinese spy scandal.

She went on to talk about how the media tried to portray the explosive NY Post story that came out in October about Hunter Biden as a “Russian disinformation” campaign, only to have egg on their faces when Hunter Biden himself admitted this month that he was indeed under investigation by the feds.

“Good for those who covered what was a story all along and not Russian disinformation,” McEnany stated as she prepared to exit the room.

This apparently triggered CNN performance journalist Jim Acosta, who called out to McEnany as she left the podium and asked “Isn’t it hypocritical of you to accuse others of disinformation when you spread it every day?”

The irony here cannot be overstated. Here we have McEnany correctly pointing out in so many words how the media ran its own disinformation campaign by either refusing to run or downplaying stories that painted Democrats in unflattering lights, one of them (Hunter Biden story) by characterizing it as a Russian disinformation campaign. And then you have Acosta – who works for the network that ran interference on the Hunter Biden story by actively planning to suppress it prior to the election, accusing her of spreading disinformation during today’s press briefing.

You really can’t make this up.

The facts here are clear: CNN and other media outlets sabotaged another media outlet just a few weeks before the election by proclaiming their story was either not verifiable or part of a Russian campaign to mislead voters. Almost two months later, we get a point-blank admission from Hunter Biden himself about being under investigation. Yet reporters are still treating it with kid gloves and only giving it obligatory coverage.

On the Swalwell story, some outlets – as McEnany noted – have not even reported on it all. Others, like Acosta’s CNN, have given it bare minimum coverage so, as Oliver Darcy and Brian Stelter would say, they can “keep it in proportion” to alleged Trump scandals, which they say should be the media’s primary focus because Orange Man Bad and all that.

The reasons why so many outlets in the mainstream media have done this could not be more obvious. Acosta can whine all day about alleged disinformation coming from McEnany until the cows come home, but that doesn’t make her insinuations about why the media worked to undermine/discredit/bury these stories untrue.

Facts don’t care about your feelings, Jim Acosta. Haven’t you heard?
